My wife and I have been discussing this. It used to be Boardwalk view without even a question for us, BUT ever since the fireworks were added to DHS we've had some great Garden/Pool view rooms with awesome views of the fireworks. So this has made us rethink our preference. I think we still probably tend to lean towards the Boardwalk view, but it's a lot closer now...maybe even equal for us.

So what do you guys prefer? And do you have any specific studios (or areas) within these 2 views that you always request?

We love looking at Crescent Lake and Spaceship Earth and watching the boats sail as well as the activity on the BW in the evening. Just don't enjoy watching pool activities as much!

We tend to agree with this...although I do feel like the fireworks view at DHS has certainly closed the gap (for some at least). Overall I do think we still lean towards the Boardwalk View though.

Didn't vote. I prefer the standard views over both of those choices. :teeth:

Do you actually prefer the standard VIEW, though? Or do you prefer what a great value the standard view rooms at BWV are? Cuz I definitely understand the latter.

Love the value of the standard views, but also prefer the BWV standard view over the preferred categories. Most times, we get a view of the EPCOT fireworks, the landscaping is pretty & in general, the area is quiet. Don't mind watching the comings and goings, either - I'm a city kid. :teeth:

We prefer to be away from the elevators and use the stairwells. I don't like the SV rooms close to the elevators as they tend to be noisier than rhose farther away. I know I am probably in the minority. To me, the BW view is noisy (esp in the morning as CMs roll carts along and after JellyRolls lets out). The Luna Park pool view is worse for noise except it's during the day. Hate that loudspeaker during afternoon pool games. :teeth:

That's great. Love hearing the different preferences of everyone!

My wife and I always laugh because we try avoiding SSR (OKW & AKL too I guess) at all costs, but then we read so many people who absolutely LOVE them and will only stay at those places. Just cool to see the differences. Same goes for specific views within a specific resort.

Yes, I fully agree about the Luna Park pool view - that afternoon loudspeaker disturbed more than one nap when we had that view. Somehow the BW sounds, even early morning carts, boat whistles and late-night JellyRolls patrons don't bother us at all!

Yea we used to be afraid that the BW views would be overly noisy, but we've never found them to be a problem. To be honest, I think they're almost relaxing to us at this point lol

I hadn't thought about this before. But then I always went with the Pool Garden views anyway. But wouldn't it be disappointing to think you would get that great view of the DHS fireworks and then get a room that doesn't face that way?

Oh absolutely! I would never base it solely on the fireworks since there's no guarantee. If you do happen to get that view though, it's definitely elevated the G/P view IMO.

That's good to hear... we're staying Boardwalk view for first time next month!

We usually book standard view right at 11 months, but have had some spare points (if you can believe it) that allowed us to book Boardwalk view once or twice and have been relegated to a pool view due to a late date change a couple of times. I would never book the pool view if Boardwalk view were available (and I was willing to spend the points).

Completely agree with CarolMN. We have had all of the views but prefer Standard, closest to the tennis courts. We are usually the second to the last room. The view is woodsy, driveway, parking lot. But, I felt the BW "view" was great, the noise, not so great. Garden/Pool can be pretty or noisy.

BW view, else we change our dates to get it (we were thrilled when BW view finally became a booking category). we find pool view too noisy, garden & standards views okay (except for the lovely, HUGE x123 SV 1 bdrms, and the P/G courtyard views). side note: in hundreds of visits, we haven't had BW view noise problems once balcony doors were closed & drapes drawn (boat horns & sounds of the BW wakening are a wonderful way to start mornings :lovestruc)

last vacay, DD & I were told at the FD that we were "upgraded" - we asked how, since we knew that the room number (2051) was NOT BW view :sad1:

Amazingly, they upgraded us from a studio to a 1 bdrm, which despite being P/G view, had stunning views of MK fireworks & partial BW/Illuminations.
& yes, we almost turned down the "upgrade.....until we saw the view :cloud9:

Based on my experience at BWV, the garden/pool view is my least favorite. My last garden/pool view room was right over an exit, and it was set back, so I couldn't see much of anything except the sides of the building sticking out blocking most of my view. Fortunately, I was only there for one night before transferring to a Boardwalk view room. My last standard view not only gave me view of the Epcot fireworks, but it was right across from the bus top, which made for some good people-watching! I say right across from the bus stop, but there was extensive grass between my balcony and the road.

We avoid garden/pool view. Usually go with standard as it is the quietest and can't beat the price. Will go with boardwalk at times and we do enjoy the action on the boardwalk.

Carol this is exactly what we are after next year- quiet (above all else) standard view- what do you actually ask for - and do you select an option at online check in?
Thanks

I usually request dedicated, upper floor across from the bus stop. Usually quiet & very convenient! :)

Occasionally, I request dedicated, upper floor near the tennis courts. That's very peaceful, overlooks a small pond and may provide a view of the DHS fireworks from Star Wars Galactic Nights.

Of those two choices, I prefer the garden/pool view because every time we've requested a boardwalk view we were assigned a crappy room. Twice it was the last room all the way at the end of the hall and one time on a ground floor so we can have people looking in or keep the curtains closed - so much for paying for a view there.
But I am fine with a standard view also. We had that last month and we faced the driveway area and it was still nice. Pus, I was shocked we couldn't hear the work being done there. It was so loud the valet and bell services people were wearing earplugs but it was quiet in our room.
