BWV studio - not impressed

We are just finishing up a long weekend there, complete with Hurricane Matthew (which was essentially a non event here and major flooding in our hometown...). We had a great time but I have to say that I am not impressed with the room. It reminded me of a regular hotel room. Color scheme is drab. The bathroom is super small. The murphy bed was a nice addition though and the boardwalk view was great. Not sure I would stay here again unless I couldn't get into BC and really wanted to walk to epcot. The pool was just ok. kids said the slide hurt their backs. kind of creepy opening my eyes from the chairs to see a clown staring at me, especially with this clown scare thing going on right now. All the same, we are glad we kept our reservation despite the hurricane. We missed out on the halloween parties but got park hoppers as substitutes so we really made out there!

Then prepare yourself for an equally drab color scheme at BCV. DVC is making interiors very generic and exteriors more themed.

Have you stayed at BCV since the refurb? It appears to have similar elements to BWV - just blue instead of green.

Aren't BWV and BCV studios pretty much the same size?

Yes. The bathrooms are pretty much the same as most of the deluxe resorts, with the sink outside. I prefer the sink outside so that 2 people can get ready at the same time, vs the all one room like at OKW.

I think BCV studios are something like 5 or 6 sq ft larger than BWV studios. Not a huge difference. As for everything else? Pretty much the same at the two resorts.

We usually don't stay in the studios but have seen a few of them while using the 2br lock-offs for AK and SSR. I think we stayed in a 2br lock-off for BC as well, but it was a few years ago do it may have been a dedicate. Can't remember. I just didn't like the feel of it. Like I said, just reminded me of a regular hotel. Certainly served its purpose and I have to say that I loved the mattresses. Just expected more of a theme for it.

We stayed there in June and did not care for it either. The updates were fine but we did not care for the resort itself.

We did exactly the opposite - after staying at BWV stayed at BCV and won't stay there again.

I stayed in a BWV studio earlier this year and found it nice, except for the bathroom fixtures and small bathroom space. The fixtures were that older style from when the Beach Club and Boardwalk were first built. And the backsplash tile was the original older as well. That kind of stuff could be changed out, but other than that it seemed fairly up to date. And the resort itself seemed to be in good condition. I liked all the places where you could sit and relax.

Beach Club does have Storm Along Bay though... that pool wins for me. The boardwalk activities on the other side are nice, but I would rather have that amazing sand bottom pool.

For whatever reason they did not change the tile in the studio bathrooms at BWV. They did in the larger villas though. I give that a big thumbs down.

I am just back from a 15 night stay at BWV. stayed in a standard view studio. The bathrooms have been re tiled, the new tile is white and brick shaped, made for a clean simple look. There is no grab rail in the shower - am sure there used to be one?

We loved the new look, Its cleaner and more simple, we did not like the new sofa bed. The new bed requires you to take all the cushions off the sofa and there is very little space to store them, it was a minor niggle mind.

Overall was a great stay- the parking has improved too, its now carefully looked after by security and the self park lot was less than half full almost every day- we were able to park up by the tennis courts every day without issue and use the stars to get to our room quickly.

We've had 2 studios since they did the refurb - neither had new tile:

One was a pool/garden view accessible - this was the studio side

And the 1BR did have new tile

This was a refurbed Boardwalk view studio bathroom

With the refurbs, BCV, BWV, etc are all starting to look like the same villa. Lucky for us we have SPG points so will start staying at the Swan/Dolphin when visiting Epcot. Hopefully DVC will not mess with AKL and OKW but I have a feeling they are next in the generic redo. We can use our points for Hilton instead of OKW but do not have a different hotel option close by AKL. I have been out of touch. What other villas have they redone in the generic theme? WLVs?
