Any suggestions on a view / location request for BWV Standard 1B? We really don't have any great need to be near the elevators or any other feature of the resort. In fact, we'll have a car and prefer to self-park so perhaps something further down the halls would be more convenient (there is a stairwell down there, right?)

Any comments on what sort of views you enjoy at BWV would be appreciated.

The only time I had a BWV standard view actually turned out to be a most coveted room!

We had a standard view, fairly close to the elevators. In fact we were just above the walkway, right by the valet parking. Unknowingly, we were there during the ABC Soaps weekend. This was purely coincidental. Well, all the ABC Soap Stars were hustled in and out right under our room balcony! We would be out there, and saw them all, up close and personal, lol. They would wave and exchange a few words with us each time they came and went. It was quite exciting, though I had not followed the soaps for many years at that point.

So, ya just never know what will be a "great" room choice! LOL!

I would request across from the bus stop, top floor. You get a great Illuminations view there.

When we reserve a BW Standard View room, we just request non-smoking and above the first floor.

I would think that if you don't want to be near the elevators, they could probably fill that request! :D

For us, once we sign on to get the point reduction by choosing Standard View, we feel that pretty much any room they assign will be fine with us as long as it's in good working order (which our rooms have always been).

If you get something in the middle down the front drive I would think you would have easy access to the quiet pool/Community Hall.

ITA. That said, I still request upper floor across from the bus stop. Sometimes we get lucky - upper floor near bus stop is a very good location (see DebbieB's post, LOL). :teeth:

FWIW, we've liked all the standard view rooms we've been assigned. Have always been in the section that overlooks the entrance driveway/valet parking lot. There are lots of stair wells - I'm sure you will find them very convenient to get to either pool and the walkway to MGM. We seldom use the elevator unless we are traveling with stroller children. :teeth:

Best wishes -

Thanks for the advice.

Don't get me wrong--I'm of the school of thought that as long as our balcony doesn't have police tape and a chalk outline, it's just fine with me. ;)

That said, I had pretty good success with requests last time we visited. I just wasn't sure if there were any rooms better than others in the Standard View category. Maybe I'll just add a "high floor" request since we don't like being on the first floor with our small children, and leave it at that.

TJK,

Good luck with your requests. I have always liked the rooms farther from the elevators (been down there twice) and on an upper floor. There are some down at that end that look out on the pond that a really nice and hard to imagine are standard views. They also have qucik access to the parking lot, MGM and the "quiet" pool from that end.

Have fun. Hopefully the chalk outline will have been cleaned by the time you arrive.;)

I thought we did well with our 1BR STD view last trip. Overlooked the canal, and Swan resort. If you use the stairs, you come out right along the walkway to MGM... and only a few steps from the pool, or bridge to the Swan/Dolphin, And an easy walk to fantasia gardens. In fact the Dolphin boat dock was probably closer than the boardwalk.

Our preference is not to be too close to the elevators so that we can see some of Illuminations and we don't mind the walk, so we just ask to be about halfway down from the elevators. Our last trip we were right before the hallway made a Y, next to vending and the stairs out to the Luna Park Pool. It was a great spot and very quiet.
