Doing some point planning and noticed how much less the BWV standard views are when compared to BWV preferred as well as to other DVC resorts. Are the standard views at BWV really that bad? Do you get a lot of noise being near the main entrance? Those rooms really are a great value when considering the resort location but wondering if I'm missing something.

I've done the BW view a couple of times and come to the personal conclusion that, for me, it's not worth the extra points, so I prefer a standard view. We usually book 2bd's and the last three times have landed villas that have a view of the expansive grass area to the left of the entrance road you drive up to either park or go to the lobby. I've found the view lovely, with bunnies, birds and really no louder than anywhere else! Youc an hear some road traffic with the doors open but It didn't bother us! I know some views in the back can be of roof tops, roadway etc.

They are along the front drive so they don't have the view the rest of the villas have and view the parking lots. They are highly sought after by BWV members from 7 to 11 months out, so it is difficult to get them once the reservations open to all members.

Over the years, I've tried the various types of views and enjoyed each one. However, by now I prefer using the points for longer stays vs. view, so I always try for a standard view. :thumbsup2

We had a studio at the end of the hallway and thought it was great because it was quiet since there was hardly any foot traffic way down there, plus it was close to the quiet pool and outside. Our view was of a tree so we couldn't see anything else.

We were able to get the room at 7 months. We have reservations for this Feb in a standard studio that I also got at 7 months. I loved being at the end of the hall, not a bad walk at all for us.

I agree with others that the SV are great value, so much so that I find them them to be the hardest to book at BWV. We were shut out one time for an early December stay when calling 11 months in advance! -- Suzanne

The SV's closest to the lobby could get noise from the luggage containers. We've been close to the lobby and noise wasn't really a problem because they don't do the luggage containers all day long, but I much prefer the views from the villas that are down the long long hallways. We are BWV owners who almost always book the standard views. We tried Boardwalk view once and weren't swept away by it. For us, it was just OK. we'd rather save points. Got a standard view 2 bedroom over our NYE stay that's coming up!

We really dislike having a std view for 10 days for F&W every year. I think the rooms are nicer at other times of the year though..... :rotfl:

We like to book the standard views when we can too. This was one of the reasons we added on to BWV after our first stay there! We like to stretch our points and stay longer. I prefer closest to the tennis court as my location. It's a further walk, but is quiet.

They really are not bad overall, I think some would prefer many of them over certain pool/gv units even at the same price. Other than the one's right at the front, you get little noise, maybe less than most. IMO, DVC overshot when they set the points schedule for those units, though it currently works to my advantage. They could reallocate and reduce the difference, of course, you'd also expect them to increase the BW view points if they did so which I think is an almost certain action at some point anyway.

When I was trying to conserve points, standard view was a great bargain! I always requested top floor, across from the bus stop and was always happy with what we got.

See Granny's map:

The bus stop is on the road to the middle right.
