Hi! We are new DVC owners. We bought SSR but are planning to get married in May at the Boardwalk and want to stay at BWV. We will be in a 2 bedroom as my son will be with us the first few days, and then a 1 bedroom.

I will be calling at the 7 month mark exactly. For points conservation, I am going to ask for standard view. Are the standard views terrible??? Does anyone have experience with this? We stayed on the Inn side and had a standard view room that actually looked over the gardens. (maybe we were upgraded).

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, getting a standard villa at 7 months out is going to be very difficult. The Standard view at BWV is the parking lot and along the main drive. About 20% of the villas are Standard, 20% BW View (preferred view BW) and 60% the preferred Garden/Water/Pool view.

Well I will have to cross my fingers and hope we can book the lower points rooms! Thank you for the info! I will update when we try to book it.

May is sometimes easier than other months to book at 7 months, so you could get lucky. You might want to consider using the wait list if some of your dates are not available. If you only need a few days in the 2 bedroom, that helps to make it easier. And 1 bedrooms tend to be the last size to fill up, so that also helps.
Good luck and congrats!

We've been able to get standard view for 3 years in a row, during July. I just called right at the 7 month mark. The view isn't horrible, but we were always looking at the driveway.

Congrats on your wedding.....I wasn't looking for a 2 br but I called a few days ago looking for a studio from 4/28 to 5/2 and there were standard view BWV studios available......hope you get what your looking for:flower3:

Congrats on your wedding. We own at BWV and have not been successful for a 2 bedroom for the last two years. We booked at about 9 months and could not get all our days. The waitlist never came through either. I suggest you have a back up plan in case you cant get what you want.

Hopefully you will be luckier than we have been. Sending some pixie dust your way!

We will book where we "need" to. Hoping we can get BWV, but I can get back ups! :)

Even though the standard views are of the parking lot and driveway, aren't they separated by a fair amount of green space as opposed to being just a couple feet from the asphalt?

Good luck with your wedding plans!

We were able to book a 1 bed room Standard view at BWV for this pat May at the 7 month mark. For this coming May 2012 we just switched into BWV BW view studio at the 7 month mark. I would think you should be able to get your resrvation at the 7 month window. Good luck.

Our standard view had a patio, that looked out onto the driveway, which was separated from the patio by at least 15 feet of grass. We asked for, and received, a ground floor room, which worked well for our purposes. We had ducks that came by every day, which are then 9/10 yr old fed crackers. It got to the point where the ducks seemed like they were waiting for him each day. It was an unexpected bonus, that made the trip special for him. For that trip, we spend very little time in the room, so the point savings more than made up for the view of the driveway/parking. As a matter of fact, we would still request standard view, ground floor in returning to BWV.

Have gotten SV 1 BR at the 4 month mark so it is possible. Of course I was going in Sept and that probably makes a difference. The time frame you are looking for is during Flower and Garden so it may be a little harder but if you take what you can get and waitlist the rest you will probably be good. We asked for and got a higher floor - 4th - and actually enjoyed watching the people coming and going up and down the hill. We were very close to the stairwell that went down to the path to the bus stop. We could see the high Illuminations fireworks from the balcony as well. Good luck and hope you have a wonderful time.

We have stayed standard view a few times and found the view perfectly acceptable.

Yes, you see the parking lot, but there is also a lot of grass and flowers to look upon as well.

I think the only time we stayed and didn't like it as much was when we were overlooking the area where they unloaded the Magical Express luggage. It was a bit noisy...but certainly not a deal-breaker.

Good luck to you!

Some of the standard view are far from the elevators and they overlook a pond and are very satisfactory to me and DH! I hope you will be lucky!:wizard:

Well I must be one of the lucky ones because I have booked BWV standard view at 7 months many times! The only difference is that we book 2brs. We booked for May without waitlisting. The BW view isn't important to me, I'd rather save the points so I always get standard. the last several times I've gotten a view of the trees and the vast front lawn to the left of the entrance, it's beautiful. If you were looking for Oct during F&W I would say good luck but in May I think you'll be fine!

Good Luck!

We stayed at BWV with a 1br for a few nights that was standard view. The view was not bad, basically you look out onto the entrance of boardwalk. you would think it would be loud from all the traffic but its not bad. Its actually kind of fun to sit there at night and see everyone coming and going. We didn't mind at all. I am not sure if there are other standard views but I am sure there are. Basically your going to see the main entrance or just some trees and shrubs.

I called today and was able to get a 2 bedroom standard view for the weekend at the 7 month mark. Yippee! Made a call to the wedding planner and hopefully we will get our time of day we want for the May 18th wedding.

I have to call back on the 20th to book the rest of our trip (my son will be leaving and we will switch to a 1 bedroom so it is a separate reservation).

Thanks for all the well wishes. Anyone have any suggestions on a room number or location to ask for??? We are also going to book a cash reservation for my fiance's parents. They will need to be close to an elevator - long walks are not for them....

Amy :bride:

Congrats!

For BWV standard, ground floor is nice for strollers, ecv's.. Because you can get to the bus, boats, and pool with no stairs or elevator (just up to the lobby)

As mentioned? High floor looking at entrance can get you a partial view of the high Illuminations fireworks.

End of the long hallway is actually the closest room for walking to DHS...

For cash rooms, I think the only Villa option is Pool/canal view, but the cash side of BWI would have more options...but unsure of requests.

glad you got what you wanted. would suggest BWI too over BWV. BWV generally has cash reservations for lagoon/pool views - this lagoon going toward Studios.

now long ago they did have standard cash reservations - but really think member complainted enough and they have stopped that practice.

the problem with getting a 2-bedroom at BWV - is there are no 2-bedrooms only 1-bedroom and studio. so if the studio part is gone (and it alot of the time) you can't get a 2-bedroom here. now 1-bedroom you can definitely get - but 2-bedroom because of the setup are harder to get.

very happy you got what you needed. Now hope the wedding lives up to your expectation. are you getting married in the epcot section instead of the wedding chapel?
