Can anyone tell me what the "Standard" view at BWV is. Is this DVC shorthand for "Parking Lot" view?? Just curious... I definately like the lower points, but wasn't sure what this view was like. Thanks!

I stayed in a standard view one bedroom in October and it overlooked the main entrance to the resort. You could see, lawn, water, cars, parking area, BWI, Convention area, high fireworks and some epcot buildings. I would definitely stay there again. From this board I understand that some rooms with the same view, but closer to the elevators, are prefferred rooms.

About 20% of the room at the BWV are standard view and they go the fastest. Most are gone in the first few weeks of the 11 month reservation window.

Thanks for the info. Guess I won't hold my breath for a BWV Standard View studio at the 7 month window then. Guess it's worth a try, though.

I believe there are many threads on this subject ,but I have to say I always enjoyed the stand view rooms and with the exception of this may staying at a boardwalk view (first time ) i would always stay there. We had a corner room whick overlooked the pond and epcot and saw part of mgm too.Don't get me wrong we could have seen the parking lot but choose the fireworks and ducks, rabbits and turtles near pond.

I stayed in a standard view room--once--that was located over the air conditioners, down by the tennis courts 1/2 way to MGM studios. It was not pleasant. We like using our balcony, and couldn't on this trip. You just need to know that this is a possible view you can get with standard points. Now I pay for BW view, and I am happy every time. :thumbsup2

If you travel January, May or September you have a decent chance for a 1BR std view. Otherwsie, it is tricky but you never know with the waitlist.

wow, I'm amazed! my paperwork is in the process of being finalized and I just got a confirmed 1 bedroom preferred view at the Boardwalk for May 10-13th ...I'm quite shocked as I didn't think this was possible with the short timeframe AND it's Mother's Day weekend! yes, I am visiting with my 22 year old DD..... princess:

This was my standard view from a couple years ago. It was a high floor and down the hall quite a bit:

That's a pretty nice view.

Is that the Boardwalk Inn?

Yes. That's the inn side.

Here is another picture from our 2005/2006 New Year's Eve trip. It's closer to the elevators and lower in the tree line:

A standard view will be toward the front of the resort. You'll be looking over the main entrance, part of a parking lot, maybe the tennis courts, maybe part of the canal or the bridge over th canal...similar to the pictures posted. It really depends on where your room is located in the resort. We had a standard view a few years back and we overlooked the main entrance and driveway. Not a bad view...it was neat to watch the hustle and bustle and it was pretty at night.

Last year we had a preferred (not Boardwalk) view and overlooked the canal, the croquet lawn, and off to our right was the dumpster area, which we could see because we were on the 5th floor!!!! We had a lovely aerial view of the garbage!!!! ;)

Keep in mind the preferred 1BR is the easiest to book and May, Sept and Jan are the easiest months.

Sure, give it a try! I got a standard view studio there once at the 7 month window for December. I almost dropped the phone in shock! Remember, as my elderly grandmother used to say-"It doesn't cost ya nothin'" to ask.

We have stayed in standard view several times and have had both of the views in the photos posted. Once we had the first floor, with banks of flowers outside the door and ducks visiting our patio for breakfast. It was so far from the driveway, with great landscaping, that it was one of our all time favorites. Plus, we could get quickly to the bus by going out our patio door.

Very easy unless it's a BW view and even then for May that wouldn't be tough.

We've only stayed standard and thought the views were great. While the rooms line the driveway for the most part, they are not right next to the road as you can see in the pics. I agree that it's fun to people watch and seeing the lights to the entrance at night.

I got a standard view 1 bedroom for late April 2 years ago at the 7 month mark (combined points with non-BWV owners). We ended up on the end next to Jellyrolls above the old red building (now gone).
