BWV Standard View Rooms are the views terrible?

We had a standard view studio last September at BWV. It overlooked one of the non-themed pools. It was actually very quiet when we'd sit out on the balcony. But we don't spend a whole lot of time in the room when we aren't sleeping so we were perfectly fine with it.
No standard view villas overlooking a pool at BWV...you must have gotten lucky and been upgraded. There is only the one quiet pool at BWV...and the rooms around it are all preferred views.

Here's a picture of the view from our Standard View room:

We were there last April. Note that this room was a long way from the elevators. Since we can easily use the stairs, we didn't mind at all. Also, I zoomed the picture a bit - the canal and boat were actually a bit farther away than the picture makes it look. But still, I thought the view was quite nice.

Most of the standard view rooms have pretty nice views, IMO. There is a lot of pretty landscaping between the villas and the black-topped driveway, parking lots and entrance area.

Here's a picture of the path to the bus stop from the Standard View wing of the BWV:

I've had a one bedroom right behind that last tree in the second photo..ground floor. THought I was going to hate it...but loved it. It was so quick to the bus stop. I prefer being higher up, but it wasn't bad at all.
I'll be booking standard views for our two family trip next Oct!!!

we found the standard views at the BWVs comparable to the views at the BCVs.
however, there is no other view in all of WDW to even compare to BW view :cloud9:

We booked a BWV 1br standard for January 2011. This seems like a great value for the points! Are the views terrible? What are have your experiences been? I could have booked a 1BR Garden/Pool View or a room at BCV but, I decided that for the points I would go with the standard view room at BWV. We spend a ton of time in our room and our view is important...but, for the points--I was just wondering what to expect.
Thanks!!!

We faced the front of BWV and had a view of the covered area where valet is, it was kinda cool if you like people watching. By no means was it terrible. DH and I don't see the value in points for views since we rarely sit on the balcony, we run around to the parks or hang in the room.

Some standard views are better than others, but to me, any day at BWV is a good day regardless of where your room is overlooking.
