We booked a BWV 1br standard for January 2011. This seems like a great value for the points! Are the views terrible? What are have your experiences been? I could have booked a 1BR Garden/Pool View or a room at BCV but, I decided that for the points I would go with the standard view room at BWV. We spend a ton of time in our room and our view is important...but, for the points--I was just wondering what to expect.
Thanks!!!

It depends on what you are used to. We always book standard views at BWV but then we enjoy sitting on the balcony and watching the comings and goings. For us it's a great view! Further down there is a nice view of the canal.

Of course nothing beats a Boardwalk view.

If the view is important, I wouldn't suggest a standard BWV. They overlook the parking lot, bus stop and the resort driveway.

We had a standard view studio last September at BWV. It overlooked one of the non-themed pools. It was actually very quiet when we'd sit out on the balcony. But we don't spend a whole lot of time in the room when we aren't sleeping so we were perfectly fine with it.

Since the points were about 50 less...we decided that was four or five nights in a studio during the week. As long as the view is not of trash cans or something like that. I think we would love to watch people come and go...

We had a standard view 1 BR in June. I loved it. We could just see trees from the room (straight on) but to the right (at the right end of the balcony), we could see the Tower of Terror. DH watched the Fantasmic fireworks every night from the balcony!

I personally have never had a std view room that I was not happy with. Sometimes I'm all the way down the long hallway (very quiet) and overlook the duck pond and DHS Tower of Terror. Sometimes I've been near the entrance and as PP said, I enjoyed watching the comings and goings. Especially on the weekends when the brides arrive in their limos! Further down the hallway you have a view of the driveway but there's a lot of grass and trees that are more visible than the drive. Ask for an upper floor and from some rooms you can see Illumination fireworks over the roof of the Inn. The std views that I've had from BWV beat the MK view I had at BLT by a long shot. And I paid a premium for that while you're saving 50 points with BWV std view. Enjoy your stay.

Will be in a BWV 1BR standard view starting this coming Thursday and have been wondering how we will like it. When I heard it was available at only 5 months out I took it since the points allowed for the 1 BR were such a good deal. I have requested upper floor and since my DH loves people watching think he will be happy sitting on the balcony and enjoying a drink or two as people come and go. Will try to get some pictures and report back when we return.

I've had better standard view views than preferred view views. We just got the "road view" at BCV.

Hi, I really HATE the road view at BCV,especially with the noise! On the other hand I LOVE the PATH view?? Does anybody know what I am talking about?? It is a cement walkway in the back of the resort that HOUSEKEEPING uses?? I am never quite sure how to describe this to MS?? Joan

We, too, have had some very good standard view rooms. In fact, the only one I didn't love was first floor because we enjoy a balcony SO MUCH more than a patio. We've watched/listened to Fantasmic fireworks from the balcony in the evenings, too. While it doesn't compare with a boardwalk view, I think the standard views are fine.

We've had two awesome views our last 2 trips - both overlooking the main drive up to the resort, but it allowed us to watch Illuminations each night! Can't see the lowest fireworks, but can see most of them, as well as the water fountain and white bridge - kids love this view.

We love it! Tiger :)

We had a standard view studio last September at BWV. It overlooked one of the non-themed pools. It was actually very quiet when we'd sit out on the balcony. But we don't spend a whole lot of time in the room when we aren't sleeping so we were perfectly fine with it.

If you were facing the quiet pool (non-themed pool), you were actually upgraded to a pool/garden view.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the information on the views at BWV. We are new to DVC and have stayed at the hotel before, but never as DVC and I wondered as well about the standard view since the points are pretty low. Now that I know exactly what the view would be, I would be perfectly happy with it. Thanks, just love the information I can get here!! :thumbsup2

We've had a standard view 2 times when we stayed there. Both times our view was part parking lot-over some trees, to the right the canal and Tower of Terror. Straight down was a grassy area with a little pond like water area. The 2nd trip, for the first 2 days there was a little alligator sunning himself. It was really cool. We didn't mind the view at all. What we didn't like was the long, long, long walk to the room. If I could have taken stairs it would have been quick from the handicap parking lot.

Here's a picture of the view from our Standard View room:

We were there last April. Note that this room was a long way from the elevators. Since we can easily use the stairs, we didn't mind at all. Also, I zoomed the picture a bit - the canal and boat were actually a bit farther away than the picture makes it look. But still, I thought the view was quite nice.

Most of the standard view rooms have pretty nice views, IMO. There is a lot of pretty landscaping between the villas and the black-topped driveway, parking lots and entrance area.

Here's a picture of the path to the bus stop from the Standard View wing of the BWV:

We stayed in a 1 bed standard back in May. We asked for the tennis court area, and got a view of the canal/parking lot. It wasnt bad. Very near the end of the hall. A path to the parking area was close, so it made for a not so hefty walk bringing in groceries. When we wanted to take our van, it was close by. We did have a few trees in front of one balcony, but not enough to hinder the view. We would love to get a room down at that end again in Mar. when we return.
