Hey there - looking to rent DVC points for BWV Standard Studio (hopefully) in first week of May 2024.

I’m already up to speed on the 11 month window, up to speed on how limited those are - but just wondering if I should already start seriously strategizing a second choice or looking to another resort class completely. Are these impossible to get in May? Just looking for peoples experiences.

Thanks!

Not impossible, but you'll need to act quickly - find an owner willing to book for you as soon as the 11 month window opens. May is a relatively low point season and the standard studios go quickly. I'd suggest a Pool/Garden studio as a back up. Good luck.

Don't expect to get a BWV standard view studio. An owner can reserve at his home resort beginning at 8 a.m. eastern, 11-months out from date of arrival. BWV standard view studios usually disappear daily throughout the year for any given start date within moments after 8 a.m. eastern at 11-months out. The winners are simply those whose computers communicate faster with Disney's right at 8 a.m. than the many others who fail. Even finding a member or a rental agency to try for BWV standard view studios can be difficult -- the owner would typically have to try exactly at 8 a.m. 11-months -out and then likely have to waitlist and then check constantly after 11-months out hoping to grab something that opens due to cancellations, and success may never happen, and finding a member who wants to do that for a rental can be difficult.

Note that the same problem exists for AKV value and club level studios. BLT standard view studios can also have the 11-month-out issue at times.

If you want BWV, your best chance for a studio is pool/garden view. Boardwalk view may be a possibility in May but those also usually do not last too long past 11-months-out for that time of year. First half of May, because it is in the second lowest point season of the year, can book full faster than March or April or second half of May (although second half of May can also have issues). Lowest point cost rooms at any near-park DVC resort generally book full faster than others, and that includes not just studios but the 2BRs for any lock-off 2BR (which can be reserved separately as studio and 1BR, and thus studio reservations automatically fill any given 2BR lock-off). If you want a studio at an MK or Epcot resort, your best chance will be for Poly, BLT lake view, a VGF Resort Studio, or Riviera preferred view. BCV is a possibility for early May if actually using the 11-month window. CCV studios can be difficult because those can also at times disappear at exactly 11-months-out; BRV is a possibility. Generally easy to get, even at 7 months out, in early May, are SSR, OKW, AKV Kidani and Jambo savanna view.

I will add that most owners will charge a premium to try for BWV Standard, and you won't get it via an agency. So Pool/Garden may be cheaper anyway.

Thank you so much this was really helpful. Have done WDW many times but now, with my children, it’s a bit of a game changer in terms of the proximity to the parks that we hope to accomplish with our bookings.

This is a good start - we’re going to try our luck with a couple choices and have a backup resort direct through WDW reso’s.

Cheers

I've had trouble renting standard BWV, only ever been able to get the preferred in early May (as a renter, not an owner). That said, the preferred view is my absolute favorite so I've never been sad about it!

No, I would not be sad about it at all - I had no idea that there was a shortage of inventory and started planning based around the standard view price. Not so much of an issue for me, but we’re travelling with Disney First-Timers so trying to be mindful of Disney Math.

I'm thinking demand may be much higher than usual, too, by then because of the BWV refurb beginning before long if not already.

We had a 1br booked for about that date this May and switched to VGF after getting an email cautioning us about the possible disruption due to the BWI and then BWV refurbs.

I've seen others say they'd booked this fall and received that same email.

It could be a definite challenge most of next year for owners, much less renters, wanting to stay in the newly redecorated BWV.

November, we're lookin' at you.

Yeah they seem to moving along pretty fast from what I’ve read. A few people have posted some VLOGs from the first wave of Reno’s. They look great,

Will try our luck regardless.
