BWV Standard View - how noisy?

We're booked at our home resort, SSR, for an Oct trip. We may waitlist for BWV standard view (I know...we need lots of pixie dust for that to happen :lmao:). I like to spend time relaxing on the balcony in the mornings & evenings so I'm wondering how noisy that area is.

We just stayed in February in a BWV standard view. I cant remember the number. However, we were just past the port cochere. The noise level was not excessive. It is much noisier than the other side of BWV. However, it was the noisiest in the morning 7-9 am and late evening 630-8. Buses. Luggage trucks, DME, Disney cruise line buses, etc. Also, there were quite a few maintenance vehicles, golf carts, etc in the morning.

That all being said it was not unbearable.

If you do get one (sending pixie dust wishes to you now) then I would request one that overlooks the the pond and tennis quarts. It is further from the entrance, which will lessen the noise. However, it is a long walk from the elevators if that matters to you.

Just want to say that you may not need to waitlist. Not sure what size you are looking for but we just got a studio at BC for 10/14 & 10/15 and there were studios available at BWV for the same nights!

Sending Pixie Dust your way anyway. pixiedust:

We stayed at BWV in 2 BR preferred last year and absolutely loved the location. Good luck!

UGH - we sleep in and that's prime sleeping in & balcony sitting hours :sad2:

We'll have a rental car with us so I was thinking that area might be better for access to the parking lot. Being that far out from the elevators would be tough though because we'll have a stroller with us.

It looks like we have to decide between noise & convenience of the elevators...oh the decisions!

Congrats! We're looking for a 1-bdrm for a week. Thanks for the pixie dust!

Really, all the standard views aren't noisy!! I've had standard views several times so far..not one of them was noisy. BUT...I was way down the hallways. The first time I was ground level, right across from the bus stop. Very quiet there, but no balcony, only a patio which was full of shrubbery. The other two times I got the end of the building, with a view of the pond and DHS in the distance. You can't be any further out than those rooms but man, are they quiet!! And you just walk down the stairs to get to the bus stop, or a different set of stairs to get to the pathway to DHS...much faster than other areas.

I always request the tennis court area. This is as far away from the elevators that you can get. The closest you are to the elevators, the noisier it will be. Funny when I called last week to make a room request, the CM laughed at me for asking not to be near the elevators. She said she seldom hears that request.

2 years ago during spring break, I had a 2 bedroom sv and it may have been the first one down the hall from the lobby. It was only when I went to sit out in the morning that I noted what a "bad" view we had and with the luggage, there was some noise. However, no one inside the villa even noticed noise. I went out to the balcony at other times, and didn't notice noise, and as far as view, I just looked beyond the immediate. I would take the 2 bedroom again, because it was very convenient.

This past Feb, we had a 4th floor 1 bedroom standard view. We rarely went out on the balcony so I'm not sure how noisy it was sitting there. However, in a few of the mornings I can hear the luggage cart and something else being dragged across. It wasn't too loud, just loud enough to notice. I am a light sleeper as well, but also tended to wake up early on vacations :confused3.

Otherwise, no overly disturbing noise. The view wasn't great, but we rarely looked out either.

Thank you all so much for the input! I really do appreciate it. I'll have DH read this thread tonight. As much as we want to try the resort, I think we may end up skipping it until DD is a bit older. The end closest to the tennis courts seems ideal for us because it's quieter and close to the parking lot (we'll have a rental car), but I don't want to chance getting a room on the 3rd floor or higher and having to carry DD & a stroller up that many flights of stairs at the end of the day coming back from DHS, DTD or AK (we'll take the car to DTD or AK). Thanks again everyone!

My DS was 2 our last trip. Although we had a Preferred view the room was a LOONNGGG way from the elevators. Shey don't you use the elevators instead of the stairs? We always left the stroller in the car and never brought it to our room.

If our standard view room was at the end closest to the parking lot, we wouldn't use the elevators when coming back from DHS via the walkway or when walking from the parking lot. Many times, DD has fallen asleep in the car on the way back from a park and we've put her in the stroller to get her to the room. I can't see us carrying a sleeping 3 (almost 4 at the time of our trip) yr old from the parking lot and possibly up a few flights of stairs - ugh!. I wouldn't want to leave the stroller in the car because we might not be using the car the next day and would need to have the stroller to get where we are going and I wouldn't want to waste time going to the car to get it.

We found it very quiet but we where all the way down the hall. We did not mind as it put us close to community hall and a nice view of Tower of Terror.

Ah, I see. We always drive to the parks, unless we were walking from DHS and Epcot. That was why we left the stroller in the car. If my son was asleep, we would use the stroller and the elevators. If he was awake, we had him use the stairs. I think that may have taken longer than the elevator would have. :rotfl2:

I booked a standard 2 bedroom for October several months ago. I could only get 3 nights and I am waitlisted for the other nights. So far, no luck! I called again today to see if anything was available and was told it is not.

Maybe you will have better luck than I am having.

If I get my wish next Monday - one Bedroom at Aulani this October, I will be cancelling a BWV standard view one bedroom for the following dates: October 15-21st. Hopefully, we'll both get lucky!! :)

For standard view, I've always requested across from the bus stop and always got between the bus stop and the end near the pond, 3rd or 4th floor. I never noticed a noise problem.

DH wants to go for it so we're waitlisted for a 1-bdrm standard view for 10/16-10/22. I could have booked all but the nights of 10/18 & 10/20, but don't want to chance having to move resorts so I waitlisted the entire week.

Also available was a 1-bdrm pool/garden view for all nights but 10/20. I'm considering booking it (if it's still available), requesting end closest to tennis courts & waitlisting the one night.

Here's my "what would you do" thread. If you have thoughts on what I should do, you can post them here or on the other thread...thanks!!!
