BWV standard or preferred

I have read posts that say their preferred view seemed to be a standard view. When you stay at the BWV do you prefer to use your points for a preferred view or standard? Also, if you request a view what is your favorite? I will be taking my two Granddaughters and was wondering what to do. Thanks!

Standard view is nice and you can save some points. Most face the front driveway, plus some are down on the end near Jellyrolls facing the Swan. The standard views we had on the third or fourth floor facing the bus stop had Illuminations views.

Views on the Boardwalk side are nice too. You face the lake and can watch the boats coming and going and people watch.

Last January we were at BWV for three nights on a preferred view and two on a standard. Since there was absolutely nothing going on on the Boardwalk the nights we were there( it was cold), we wished we had saved the points. Our view of illuminations was actually better in the standard view room, we looked toward the bus stop but the grounds were beautiful!

I don't have the home resort priority here, so we used preferred points last year as SV rooms were all gone. I got one of the parking lot preferred views. I think for next time we'll specifically request "pool view" so as to avoid the valet parking lot/canal view again.
