Is the extra money worth it for a BWV studio preferred or is a standard OK ?

What are the views or location differences between the BWV studio standard and preferred ?

Thank you !

Standard is the driveway, preferred is everywhere else.

Standard close to the building entrance may have added noise from the buses and trucks that deliver the luggage.

Preferred has two booking categories, boardwalk view and pool/garden view. Boardwalk view (about 15% of all rooms) is the best view at WDW. Pool/garden (about 67% of all rooms) is a mixed bag which can run from very good to truly mediocre and are often just a tad above standard view. Standard view (about 18% of all rooms) is actually fairly good as you see a lot of grass and trees before any road and part of the standard views see a canal and Studios.

Boardwalk view is more than worth the extra points. Pool/garden is questionable as being worth the extra points. Note that standard and boardwalk view can be difficult to get at 7 months out.

We typically stay with the garden/pool view, as we don't always book at the 11 month window. My personal preference is boardwalk view for the view, then standard view to save points, then garden/pool view to be able to stay at BWV.

One thing to note about the boardwalk view is that it can get noisy once Atlantic Dance and Jellyrolls close. I'm a light sleeper so am woken up by the noise.

We've done all three. Most often we get the Boardwalk View (room 4001 :)). That room is a zillion miles from the elevators etc. but we don't mind the walk and love the view. I'm a light sleeper but when you are on a higher floor you really can't hear any noise from Jelly Rolls.

We've also stayed in garden/pool and have had rooms that overlook the main pool. Very nice!

For both of the above, it's great if you want to watch the fireworks at night and/or people watch. I love both a lot!

Last year for first time, we wanted to save some points and reserved a standard room. I requested a room that was not overlooking the parking lot and airline baggage check in. Happily they honored my request and our view was the small stream and water fountains. Maybe because we've been to BWV a thousand times, we actually enjoyed the quiet standard view.

So all I will say is that if you ask for a standard, be very specific that you do not want your room by the airline baggage check in and go as high up floor wise as you can.

Standard is actually the "preferred" view for most owners at BWV because they can save points. It makes up about 20% of the total villas. And BW view is also desired by owners at BWV. That makes up another 20%. So 60% is usually left over for the non-owners at BWV and those are all the pool/garden preferred villas.

excellent summary :thumbsup2
we've done all three categories (multiple times each).....standard being perfect for saving points, P/G when we book too late. now we only book BW view (using BWV points at 11 months for our F&WF trips, using BCV & SSR points at 7 months for the less busy F&GF vacations).
we've become BW view addicts, changing our vacation dates when BW view was unavailable - it truly is worth every...single....point :cloud9:

Had a standard view on the 4th (I think) floor once with a view of the high fireworks from Illuminations. I've had a boardwalk view once and loved it. The preferred view I had was of the leisure pool, but it was blocked by trees. The only good thing was it had a large sheltered balcony. In my opinion I would book preferred/garden only if neither BW or Standard are available.

My opinion also. The one time I had the "preferred view" I was right over a doorway, tucked back so I couldn't see the pool, or anything else for that matter except the walkway. And it was facing away from Illuminations. However, I've always enjoyed my standard view, and gotten a great view of Illuminations. Come to think of it, if all that was available at BWV was the preferred view, I'd consider staying somewhere else.
