OK, that darn slide in Luna Park has spoiled my kid!
She rode that thing like a million times last trip and now thinks every hotel pool should have a slide that big.

Complained that PC didn't have a slide when we checked in for our last nights...
I understood that and agreed we'd do mods from then on.

So now I'm planning where we'll stay next spring break trip after OKW (Hope that new slide is done!) for those extra couple nights. I thought POFQ, showed her a pic of the slide - too short, BABY slide! UGH!

Finally she agrees to CSR cause the pool looks like Indiana Jones.

OK... So DVC has completely SPOILED all of us! Here we were happily staying at values, now the rooms are too small for me and the pools aren't up to standards for my 6 year old! Geez... What a problem to have! :p

You're just appreciating the FINER things in life!

Enjoy!

Our 1st stay at BWV is right around the corner! We have pool hopped to the Keister Coaster and DD now 9 LOVES THAT POOL! as do I!! Prior to joining DVC we stayed at the ASmo and ASmu and 4 people in the room and did fine - but after our 1st DVC stay at OKW - well we can never go back again! We are spoiled!;)

My DW and I had a similar problem last night...

Our town is having its local carnival this weekend... Last night we saw the fireworks... They were nice, and everyone there had a good time, but for some reason my DW and I both kept thinking that for some reason they were sub par to what we were expecting...

Of course, after talking it through, we realized that we were both comparing the show to Wishes and Illuminations without realizing it.. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Are we cursed to always live with these high expectations?? :teeth: ::yes::

mbhoxsie, that is so funny. We are the same way!
Our city does a fab fourth fireworks show that we have been going to for years, but I do tend to think they seem small, course I'm sure everyone else thinks they are just incredible!

It will be interesting to see what my 6 year old says this year. When we stayed at PC we had an incredible unobstructed view of Wishes from our room and all she could say was she couldn't hear the music!

We have spoiled her for sure by going to WDW so often!

May I make a suggestion?

Instead of doing the regular hotel at the end of your stay, do it at the beginning.

We go to WDW 2-3 times/year, and for some of the trips, in an effort to conserve some points, we will stay at a regular hotel...usually a moderate. What we do is arrive on a Friday or Saturday, stay in the regular hotel till Monday, then check in to the DVC property.

The way I see it, I have to pack less, because once I get to the DVC property I'll have access to the washer/dryer in my unit, and I stay in the best unit last!

Sort of the start small end big theory.

CSR looks like a good choice. According to this article it does have the longest slide of the four moderates, while the slide at POFQ is definitely the shortest!

I also think Disney Doll's idea is a really good one, if you can do it.

Dh and I checked into a "national chain" hotel for one night last week while I was on business. We walked in and looked around. Things were "okay" but nothing special. There seemed to be water on the bathroom floor. I'm sure the room had been cleaned. It was just humidity - this is south Louisiana and it has rained that day. I looked at him and said, "It's not Disney." and he agreed!

Disney has us all spoiled by one thing or another!! And it seems the next generation will be too!!

The CSR pool is great...she'll love it!

Last week was our first time on the Keister Coaster...and we all thought it was excellent. I only like slides that are open...so I'll probably never go down the one at SAB (though I'm sure my kids will!). The HRS slide at SSR is great too...I just wish it was a little longer.

This is so funny. We just returned from a week at BWV. Previously we've stayed at VWL, OKW and BWV. DS (almost 8) is fascinated by the theming at several of the Disney hotels and would love to try them. But he always asks if they have villas - talk about spoiled. As for water slides, we haven't stayed at OKW since my kids started using slides. Once the new slide is built, OKW is again a viable option for us.

My children are spoiled too. :teeth:

Last month, we stayed a couple of nights at the Poly. We walked into the room and DS9 wanted to know where the microwave was.

My DS4 loves the "swimming pool" they put into his "vacation home" which happens to be a perfect size for him. I don't have the heart to tell him it's a bathtub.

A couple years ago we stayed at AKL. Before we left, my DS was upset because he wasn't going to have his own bedroom.

How our expectations have changed. I wouldn't trade it for the world. :D Sometimes I try to explain to my DS9 just how lucky he is. Not that he takes anything for granted, it's just hard for him to imagine that some of his friends have never been to WDW or that he's been more than any of his other friends. To him, everyone goes just as often as we do.

I'm looking forward to sharing special times with my "spoiled" children for many years to come.

Well said. Our youngest of four is 9. I know what you are saying. The two oldest (15 and 17) finally do understand the point that you make and still enjoy going to Disney as much today as they did when they were 4 and 6.

We sneaked in an extra trip to OKW last November and when my daughter saw the rooms (2 studios, not the bigger we usually get) she started CRYING! I explained to her that we had used our points up and this was a special trip at a time of the year we usually don't travel, but she wasn't buying it. My Dad said "Well, she and her future hubby better have good jobs because this kid has standards!"

My kids also loved that Keister coaster. I still break out in a sweat when I recall my one-and-only trip down that evil clown silde, but the kids really enjoyed it. Boardwalk is lots of fun.

Kids that go to WDW and stay in WDW resorts a lot, are definitely spoiled; and DVC kids are even more spoiled!
I will never forget a couple of years ago DD and a group of her college friends went to Myrtle Beach for Spring Break. They were staying in one of the hotels right on the beach with a kitchenette etc., similar to a DVC studio but even a bit larger. The first night she got there she called home and when asked about the resort her words were: "It is not DVC, that's for sure!". I just had to laugh.
Now that the kids are older they do appreciate just how nice the resorts we always stay in at WDW are. They always compare other resorts to Disney resorts and most of them fall below their standards because they have been so spoiled by WDW/DVC resorts.
