Hi all. First trip "home" in about a week. We've got the BWV coming up. Preferred view. Can we make even special room requests? If so, whom should we contact and how should we contact them? What bldgs are the best to stay in? Upstars or down? I think we'd like to be able to see the fireworks at epcot, but I really don't know the lay of the land there yet. Are the bldgs in walking distance to epcot? Pool views? Want to do best by the family (myself, DW, and DD6 and DD7). All advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance.

You're going to love the BWV. It's my favorite resort of all the DVC resorts. For me, it's all about the location!

The BWV only has one building. I prefer an upper floor view so I can look way out into the distance. The best advice I can give here is to simply ensure your few key preferences are noted on your reservation. Then, aside from a gentle reminder to the front desk CM, enjoy what you get, wherever you end up. Every area of the BWV has it's own little perks. I always thought I would hate a quiet pool view, had always had BW views. This past stay, I had a quiet pool view. It was great! We got to look out at the ToT every night, listen to the music from Fantasmic (could also catch some of the higher fireworks) and even catch Mickey standing on the mountain at the end of the show.

If you put too much emphasis on room selection, you may just end up setting yourself up for disappointment. You may want to request something closer to the elevators if you don't want to have to walk the length of the resort getting back to your room at night. However, I've found some of the better views are the rooms further out. You can generally find a stairwell closer to your room to use when you're leaving.

None of the rooms really give a *great* view of the Epcot fireworks. From the standard views, you can generally catch them over the roof of the conference center. Also, if you are way out near Jellyrolls, on an upper floor, you will also catch the upper fireworks. Keep in mind that unless you reserved a BW view, you won't get one, you'll be in a water view room overlooking the backside of the resort.

I walk fast. For me, Epcot is never more than a 10 minute walk. With CarolAnnC, I walk a bit slower and it turns into a 15-20 minute walk. Or, we just take the boat there.

As long as you don't get your hopes up and expect too much, you can't help but have a wonderful time. Remember, you're there to enjoy yourself. Just kick back and relax. Your family will *love* it!

BWV is all one building. There are 5 floors. Do you have preferred pool or garden view? The best view would be of the Village Green, near where the boat docks at the Boardwalk. Other choices are main pool or quiet pool. Or do you have preferred boardwalk view? Those are all above the Boardwalk, you may want to request an upper floor for the best view. To make requests, you would have to call member services. The front desk does not accept phone calls for faxes for requests.

See map below:

thanks crissup. i'm planning on being more laid back this time. Since becoming DVC members I figure we have a bit more time and we can forego the disney commando mode! :) (But it's HARD!!!)

I didn't realize you had to specifically request the boardwalk view. Should I call MS on that if I want to or the desk? (or someplace else?)

Hi Debbie, I have a preferred pool view. Upper floor. Studio for 10 days. I don't think I'm going to sweat it where ever I wind up as I've heard wonderful things about this place from a friend. Is the boardwalk view the same price (point) range as the preferred pool? If so I'll probably call and request the BW view if available. If not I won't get upset! Promise!!! :)

Thanks for the link to the map. I'll bring it into photoshop later and blow it up to get some detail.

So the # to call is member services? Does anyone know it off hand? I can dig around for it, but there's so much paperwork with the new contract and all it's going to take me a while to find it.

Thanks for all the input so far!

Actually, requesting a specific room just a week before your trip is not advised. The member newsletter said not to call the room conptroller with requests. Call member services tomorrow morning and see if you can still request. YOu will find eht enumber in your guidebook, along with your member ID, which you will also need to make the call.

Boardwalk view is an actual room category, not a request. If you are booked as preferred garden/pool, chances are slim that you will be able to get a boardwalk view but you could always ask if one is available (you could have waitlisted).

The number for member services is on the back of your member card. It is not permitted to be posted here.

I was always a Disney commando also. Just about the time I joined DVC, I started taking it more laid back (to the point that in a week's stay, I might not even get an entire park in). Now, I just sit and enjoy people watching, meandering whichever way the wind blows me at the moment. I may set out for the MK in the morning, and never even make it there, jumping on whatever bus shows up first and touring the resorts casually. CarolAnnC thought I was nuts the first time she did this with me. now, it's her preferred vacation method. LOL!

About a year ago, DVC split the BWV preferred view into two seperate views. BW view and the rest (I believe they're calling it Garden or Pool view). You must reserve BW view through MS. Don't be surprised if they're all taken, but you never know when someone will cancel and you can catch it on the waitlist.

Don't have it handy. It's listed on your DVC membership card though. Somethine like 800-********, or something along those lines. I guarantee someone will reply with it for sure. :)

Oops! Bad me!! Forgot that rule. :)

just wanted to stop back and say thanks everyone. I'm taking the general advice and staying laid back. I'll stick with my pool view, get the lay of the land and maybe request the BW view next time. No problem, mon! :)

6 days! Gosh! I gotta pack! :bounce:

Thank you all!

Have a great trip and come back here to write a trip report when you return!:wave2:

That's the spirit!! Remember, no matter what happens, a rotten day at WDW is still better than a great day at work! :)

I'm sure you'll love it there. Here is a link if you want with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/boardwalk.pdf As others have said, asking for a specific room and getting it are slim but this may help you know if the room assigned at check-in will meet your needs. This will give you an idea of “sectional views”.
The files are in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

Happy travels,
Sandy
