Does anyone on here want to admit they've had a nightmare involving a scary clown after spending the day at the Boardwalk pool?

Especially considering people look like they're getting eaten by the clown (the slide exits through the clown's mouth, so people at the end of the slide look like the clown is eating them).

I'm buying DVC this year but I'm not sure I'll ever book BWV considering the scary clown will ruin the pool experience.

I know some people have a fear of clowns. For me I have never shared this fear. I kinda like the wymsical clown/ party fair atmosphere

I've never liked circuses. When we stayed at BWV, I did not have nightmares about the clown even with a Luna Park view from our villa.

But if you are a big Stephen King fan like I am and have read It....

I grew up reading and listening to Bozo the Clown. No problems here!

That clown is creepy. Coming out of a cannon might have been a better theme choice.

Bozo was a bit creepy, too. I watched Bozo's circus every day when I was a kid and it was only to see Ringmaster Ned. Cookie the Clown was even creepier than Bozo.

Actually it seems more like the clown is throwing them up. ;)

Coulrophobia

:worried: The pics of it at night are awful. DH was creeped out by it and I know I am never staying there becasue of the pool.

:) DH, cute burly firefighter, just creeped out again at the Google photos. :lmao: and I qoute, "Heck no I don't even want to go on that property". The only thing I know him being afraid of is spiders...but now maybe I can add the pool to the list.

Why did they make it so yucky looking...I mean I get the whole trying to go for the vintage look, but it just didn't work here. BW is a beautiful resort.

Now the shining is another story this has creeped me out from when I was younger and went to the drive in and it was the second showing and I demanded that we leave the drive in. For some reason that movie freaked me out at 8 yrs old. I still remember it but looking at the movie now it does not have the same effect and makes me wonder why so different at that age from now.

LOL, I thought my hubby & I were the only ones completely freaked out by that clown :rotfl2: Totally reminds me of when I read "IT" and I just can't get that out of my head.

I don't like clowns, but I am not afraid of them either.

As for Disney resort pool slides, this one is our favorite. Our home resort is BCV, but I dislike the pool slide. it is so annoying, to have to troop across a public walkway, in just my bathing suit, barefoot, to walk up the stairs to the top of that slide! People are walking by, fully clothed, either coming to or from Epcot, or just walking the Boardwalk loop. And there I am, 50+, not a size 6, dashing over to the slide. AND that ride down on the slide is sort of slow. And yes, I still go down pool slides. :rotfl:

The BW clown slide is also a good slide for my down syndrome/autistic son to handle....

We have not tried the slide at BLT yet.

I love it! I love the theming in the pool area, and I think it looks like fun!

Judging by the popularity of this pool on a warm and sunny day, I suspect most adults (and children, for that matter) do not suffer from coulrophobia.

Now, those creepy chairs on each side of the lobby fireplace are another story!

We've been members at BWV for 14 years and the clown pool has never bothered us. We don't even notice the clown there anymore. I guess some people have strange phobias.

This, exactly.

We actually feel sorry for the clown, having to have people's bottoms in his mouth all day every day. I think that maybe my cousin and I (and our husbands) had gotten a little too much sun the first time we swam there, because we started anthropomorphizing the clown, assigning thoughts to him and feelings, and different expressions on his face...

Anyway, I hate clowns, ALWAYS have, read IT as a younger teen...have never been, WILL never go, to a circus because of them...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that slide. I'm not normally a pool slide person, but we have (legally) pool-hopped to BW just to go on that slide because we love it so much.

And, for me at least, the pictures of the clown slide look FAR worse, FAR scarier, than the actual clown does. The pictures somehow make the clown look bigger and make the slide itself look smaller, when the reality for me is the opposite. The clown's face looks small and puny in person, and the fun of that slide fully makes up for it. For me.

Who's your favorite clown ?.....B O Z O......"HEY, THATS ME".

I was always freaked out by Wizzo the Wizard.

Omg I love it.

40 Years later and Im still waiting for my name to get pulled out of the drum when they played the "Grand Prize Game."

I used to march around my house at the end of the show when it was time for the "Grand March".

Every Xmas Eve they have on Ch9/WGN TV, the "Bozo, Gar and Ray" show. What great memories.

You want to know creepy? I've got two words for you; Willie Whistle.

We have friends who are also DVC members and I remember my girlfriend telling me that they were staying at BWI and their balcony faced the clown pool slide. The first night they were there, they couldn't shut the shades fast enough before their 2 young DDs started screaming and crying because the clown was too scary for them.

Now, I personally do not like clowns (have been afraid of them since I was at a very young age) and the clown pool freaks me out (especially when the eyes are lit up at night :scared1:). I have told DH that I would like to stay there sometime (want to stay in every DVC/WDW resort), but the only way I would is if we had a room facing the BW or some sort of courtyard. I even said that I would stay there when it is cooler out where swimming wasn't an option.

I couldn't agree more. I originally wanted to buy there, talked myself out of it due to the creepy clown. Stayed there in Oct and absolutely loved my Luna Park pool view room, and the entire pool area.

So much I added on there!

So not creepy once you are there, in a lounger. Loved the entire vibe of it, quite a bit more than SAB to be honest!
