A DVC member has made reservations for me at the BWV. It is a standard view studio. Can I request a room with the room controller a few days prior to our arrival? I did this on our last trip when we stayed at CBR and it worked out great and I’m curious if this handled similarly with DVC properties. I know they cannot guarantee anything but I’d like to try (like getting a room close to the elevator if on floors 3-5, or in particular, I’d just like a 2nd floor room).

Also, is there a map on the web of the BWV that show room numbers/types? I have found a couple of maps online of the Boardwalk but none with this type of detail. Does one even exist?

Lastly, what type of renovations were/are being done at BWV? New furniture? Paint? Carpeting? Does it involve all rooms? Just curious.

Any other information in regards to the BWV is surely appreciated.

Thanks!

Paul

I have almost the same questions! I hope someone out there knows!

The rooms close to the elevator face the valet parking entrance (where you drop off your car). The standard rooms farther out, across from the bus stop, have an Illuminations Fireworks view on the upper floors. That's where we were last December, 4th floor and had a perfect view, could even hear the music. The second floor is on the same level as the lobby, so if you are close to the elevators you will be facing the valet area.

I would ask the member to put your requests on your reservation record and also fax if you wish 4 days before. They are supposed to grant requests by date of reservation (the people who made reservations first get assigned first).

They are currently working on the exterior, it should be done by fall. Interior renovations were done 2 or 3 years ago.

They do not publish a detailed map with room numbers for security reasons. This is what you get at check-in:

Thanks, DebbieB! On another post someone talked about the renovations and said that the parking lot views are covered with tarp (or whatever) and that we would probably get water views. Do you know anything about this?

On our first trip in 2000, we had a preferred view over the quiet pool (I had requested Boardwalk view but didn't get it). We were on the top floor and faced the canal and MGM. We could see the high fireworks from the end of Fantasmic & hear the music. The other preferred views are of the main pool, Swan/Dolphin and the Boardwalk. If you had a standard view booked, they probably would not give you a Boardwalk view. Someone else posted that they were upgraded from standard and got the Swan/Dolphin view (the beginning of the canal to MGM). These rooms are a long walk from the elevator, so if close to the elevator is important, I would request put that on your request. The preferred views close to the elevator are of the main pool or boardwalk.

Any requests will have to be made by the room controller. Aside from non-smoking or smoking the only real thing you may want to request in a standard view would be to be close to the elevator/lobby.

Since this is a DVC room all issues/reservations/requests etc... have to come from the DVC member themselves.
