BWV - Room Text

Had a reservation starting this past Sunday at BWV.
Got the text that the room was ready before the leaving the house at 8:30.

Disney room ready texts are hit or miss, and it doesn't seems to be resort related. If you are telling us that your room was ready prior to getting to WDW, you were very lucky. The room was probably vacant the night before.

It says your 1 hr from Disney and they know that. I'll bet someone coming from far away won't be that lucky.

It has nothing to due with home address. We are no more than 1 hour from WDW and I've never received the room ready text that early. I typically don't receive them until early afternoon.

So from what I have read when you stay DVC the odds of you not getting your room until late in the day are extremely high. Is this just because DVC is much more limited on housekeeping staff?

DVC units are generally larger than hotel rooms (1,2 and 3 bedrooms), so take longer to clean. I don't think it means there is a limited housekeeping staff. Because of that, DVC states the rooms are usually available *after* 4 PM. We have had them not available until 6 PM. That is typical with a timeshare.

I arrived at BWV at about 11:15 am last Tuesday. I had not received the text, so I guess this is slightly OT. But there were many 1 bedrooms which were ready. The castmember at the front desk asked which floor I wanted, and there seemed to be several 1 bedrooms ready on each floor. I was shocked at the availability. This was before Labor Day, so it wasn't because people were cancelling due to Hurricane Irma. And Food & Wine was starting in a few days, which made it even stranger.

Those room text messages are definitely hit or miss, miss being the more likely. We just finished a split stay at BWV, VGF and BCV and out of the three resorts only at the VGF did I actually get the text message saying the room was ready. At both other resorts I ended up getting the room only when I checked with the front desk and in both cases the room had been ready for a while and they had no idea whiny I hadn't been sent a text message.

I agree with the text not working the majority of the time. I now stop by the front desk to check in even if I have done online. It seems like the text doesn't always come when doing online checkin.

I guess it really is hit or miss, and for me its usually a hit. I have never not received the text and on several occasions when it got close to my specified arrival time, I got a text saying the room wasn't ready yet but they would let me know.

Before leaving the house is amazing. If guests give them accurate arrival estimates (oxymoron lol) they will try to match up the earliest ready rooms. I once got room ready on the magic Express bus at 9:30am!

How did you get the text - ONLINE check in ?

There are two options for room ready notification: text and/or email. You enter the information during online check in.

Can you do online check in if you rent from Davids ?

Yes. If the room reservation is linked to your My Disney Experience account, an option to complete online check in will appear once you are 60 days from your check in date.

When do you do the online check in ?
A week before arrival date?
The day before arrival date?

As early as 60 days prior to your check in date.

We had quite a few Tech issues on our trip this past week but one thing that did work was the room ready info. I had already received it for BCV while making my connection at SLC around 9:30am Mountain time.

Last two stays at BCV got the room ready text pretty early. Once at 9:30 am and once around 11:30 am. These were during summer and I was sure we wouldn’t get room till much later so was very pleased.
