Just got word my Waitlist came thru for 2 nights BWV with Boardwalk view Dec 6-8. (2 studio nights now available at OKW !) Anyway those of you who have stayed please give me some advice on room selection.High floor ,low floor ?Whatever advice you can throw my way. Just want best I can get . WL is wonderful by the way this trip started at 4 nites OKW and is now 2 nites BLT lake view(MVMCP is one night though so perfect) now two nights at BWV when we were planning on HS and EC for Friday ,Saturday so again perfect. Almost too good to be true . If I can get Calf Grill for Dec 4th it will be 100% complete:cool1: lucky lucky lucky

:) glad you got your waitlist! We are also staying at BWV and OKW! I look forward to the replies. :thumbsup2 This will be our 1st stay at both locations!

I always request high floor. The only time I had a problem with boardwalk noise is when I had a second floor room. Most of the studios are above Big River or in Crest O the Wave so if walking is an issue, request close to elevators. There are a few above the store.

I stayed in bldg 26 3rd floor 2br in May and frankly I couldn't have done much better. Close to HH , no noise above me (though by the end of our 9 days my family was cursing me for 3rd floor-no elevators in that bldg ...oops) anyway there was a bus stop right there also. Perfect bldg as far as I we were concerned.

I usually request an upper floor when I have a BW view room at the Boardwalk Villas, and usually wind up with a room on the 3rd through 5th floor. I find that every location has it pros and cons. Sometimes I prefer the 3rd or 4th floor to the 5th because a lot of the balcony rails are high on the 5th so you can't see from a seated position.

I have had rooms on second floor, and as Debbie said, it can be noisy there. I can remember listening to forks and knives hitting the plates at Big River Grille. In some ways, I find the 2nd floor to be very convenient because it is the floor the lobby is on.

The only Boardwalk view studio that I didn't like was the first floor one right next to the model. The bushes in front of the patio when I stayed there were a bit on the high side, so we couldn't really enjoy the view from a seated position, and we also found that people walking the Boardwalk would stop and ask us questions, which sometimes we just didn't feel like dealing with, so it took away a bit from the enjoyment of the patio.

I will be in a BW view studio that week. :)

Thanks for the reply. I did call and request high floor . I also tried (based on a chart I saw) to request a dedicated studio and they said that did not exist ? Sounds like you've stayed here often , is there such a thing ??:confused3

What view did you book? We used to request high floor as I prefer the view from up above to ground floor no matter what view I have. Now that we have a stroller, we request ground floor and FAR from elevators. We really enjoy the walk to DHS, and the farther down the hall you are, the closer you are to the path to DHS. We've requested a ground floor unit so we don't have to mess with getting the stroller up and down the stairs. When it was just the two of us, we could do the stairs up and down without worries.

If you have any physical limitations (wheelchair, strollers, bad knees, elderly, etc.) I would suggest requesting something closer to the elevators. With only one bank of them, it is just more convenient to be close if you need them. I know some people complain that the hallways are ridiculously long, but I don't find them that bad. Still, if you have someone who had a hard time manuevering, closer to the elevator will help.

Yes, dedicated studios exist. We've *always* gotten one at BWV. We've never been given a connecting studio. :confused3 YMMV. I don't know what you should call them for your request, but they do exist in plenty.

Specifically, I think the BW views are best on high floors FAR from the elevators. If I had a PV I would request Village Green so I could hopefully get a partial BW view. If I booked standard view (typical for us), I would request high floor (unless you want to avoid the elevators and can't do stairs).

BWV is one of our homes, and we just love it. Christmas is an especially beautiful time there. Enjoy your stay!

There are definitely dedicated studios. I've had them many times (you get an extra day bed in the room), but it's not a seperate booking category or anything. I've never requested them specifically, so perhaps it's just not an option for a request.

Oh, and one more thing about those Boardwalk view rooms, don't be surprised if you hear the drunks leaving Jellyrolls at 1:45 every night. They usually wake me up at least once or twice a trip (if I'm not at Jellyrolls late that night myself--though I'm not a loud drunken idiot leaving the bar).

Thanks. Since I'm only there 2 nights not a big deal if I get dedicated. Won't spend much time in rooms anyway I guess. Just DW and myself so no need for extra bed but still want high to see EC and stay away from the drunks lol.
You wouldn't be a hockey fan would you ? TLinden16 a retired pretty good player from Vancouver :wave2:

Even if you got a dedicated studio you would still have one bed and a sleep sofa. The only real difference is that you would not have a door on the wall to the room next door. You would have a small bench along the wall instead. According to Shamus' map, there are 8 dedicated studio boardwalk view rooms. They end in xx29 and xx31. We got one of those last December. We had requested "close to elevator" and "high floor" and got one of those rooms on the 5th floor.

Thanks Denise. I'll call tomorrow and add "near elevator" after being on 3rd floor at OKW in May and taking hell from my family for that (no elevator) maybe I need that elevator here because I still want high floor before anything else.
Is there a map anywhere that shows elevator location, lobby etc ? I found Shamus map on the room locations.

Yes, I am a fan of Trevor Linden :)

The elevator is to the left of the Shamus map showing the Boardwalk view rooms. In between those rooms and the elevator are the village green view rooms. The elevator is right next to the lobby, which is on the second floor.

Can someone help me find Shamus' list? I am interested in the "Village Green" area for a studio for Food & Wine. Thanks!
