What is a great preferred 1 br to ask for? If possible we would like a view of the Illuminations fireworks without a lot of noise from the boardwalk.

I cannot help on actual room numbers. Be aware that the last kind of request you want to make is for a specific room number. That is one most likely not to be honored when you check in (and result could be you end up in some other area of the property). A better request more likely to honored is an area of the resort.

As to Illuminations, the only rooms that have a view of it that are preferred views are rooms overlooking the boardwalk. Thus, you cannot avoid the boardwalk noise factor if that is what you want. However, there is very little noise when you have the balcony doors closed. The rooms having the best view of Illuminations are those over the DVC offices on the boardwalk and over the Big River Grill. As the second floor is smoking, if you ask for non-smoking boardwalk view, you put yourself on the third or fourth floor. If you also ask to be over one of the above entities or far from the elevators, either of those requests would put you in the right area.
