BWV Rennovation Photos

I think this looks great! So happy to see this interior renovation, it's been a long time coming! One thing though, the 3 drawer dressers that the t.v.'s are on, they look alittle small?? Are they much smaller than the armoire's they were on? Did you find them to be roomy enough?

TIA

They are small, only three drawers. I was only in the room two nights, I moved to a 2-bed bw view room today, so I didn't unpack. They were small though & it is the same one in the studio of our 2-bed, so I could see where it could be a problem if you were say three adults in a studio.

What room number/section was your room in? I'm staying at BWV next month and need to make my room requests and am looking for some suggestions.

We were on level 5 in room 5014. It was a little bit of a walk to the lobby, but we didn't mind. We just moved this morning to a 2-bed, bw view across the hall. I'll be posting pics of that tomorrow, it's also refurbed. :)

I showed my DH the photos of the dresser/armoire and TVs. His first comment was that he was excited to finally have new TVs. His next comment was more of concern in terms of us not having enough space for DD's and my clothes:lmao:

I'm loving the looks of the renovated rooms. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get one in December, but if I don't it will be OK, I'll get one on my next trip. I'll only cry for a little while if I don't get a renovated room ;)

Hello again. Yesterday I moved from our 1-bed preferred view (room 5014) to our 2-bed bw view (rooms 5015 & 5017). They are also refurbished. Here are the pics: :thumbsup2

These pictures really look great. I like the new look of the rooms, but I hate the new look of the hallways. The old hallways were charming... the new ones look very generic.

We're going to be there later this month, in a 2 bedroom BW view, if it matters. For those of you who were there recently, did you notice any noise or fumes (paint or new carpet) from the rehab? My DM is super sensitive to both, and part of me is really worried about it interfering with her enjoyment of the room.

5015/5017, love those rooms, had them a number of times, can't beat the view. Last couple times there I've notified maintence that the faucet on the kitchen sink is loose, have they fixed it yet?

Yes. At times there have been intense oil paint fumes in the lobby. So much so that they brought in fans. It's not always, it's just every once in a while. The floor I'm on (5th) does not have a smell at all.

We've been here since Mon & I've only noticed the smell in the lobby twice & the amount of time you are in the lobby is so short, so your daughter should be fine. :thumbsup2

The faucet is still not fixed. Also the new refrigerator doesn't close, you have to kick the bottom of it to be sure it closes. Also, the studio sink drain is real slow. By the time I'm done brushing my teeth (I know I'm horrible to the environment, for keeping the water running the whole time ) I have a sink full of water.

We'll be letting maintenance know about these issues. :thumbsup2

We are checking into the BW on Oct 15 (after 2 nights @ Kidani) and although I have seen a number of photos of the renovated rooms after seeing these latest ones I really want a renovated room!! I didn't care before but with the new flat screens and everything done, they look so fresh and wonderful. Is anyone requesting a renovated room and getting them?? I hate to ask and have always happy with what we get.....should I request a renovated room??We have a standard view.

Oooohh, we've had that same two bedroom unit. We were there, with another mom and her dd. Both girls were turning 13. We had such a great time there. It was a very nice location.
Thanks for the photos of the updates...can't wait to get back in Dec!!!

Well, we checked in twice this week. We made no requests & were given refurbed rooms each time if that helps you. :thumbsup2 If you request a high floor you'll almost definitely get a refurbed room, as the higher floors are done, it's the lower floors that they are working on now.

Thank You MissMet (love your name, my best friend is a Met fanatic) for your reply .....just called Member Services and requested an upper floor.Your photos are great and love that balcony off your 2 bedroom!! Isn't the Boardwalk wonderful??!! cannot wait to be there!!

MissMet, love your pictures. Thanks for posting them! I'm "homesick" already and I was just at BWV last week! I love the teacup lamp on the end table in the units, I'll have to try to find one for my daughter's room online....

MissMet, if you think we are going to feel sorry for you and "that view" you have, well we are not. :rotfl2: ;)

Thanks for sharing the photos they are great!

does anyone know if they opffer complimentary upgrades at BWV? I am going staying in a studio next May 9-16th and renting points from a DVC owner. If I ask for an upgrade when I get there what are the chances? Do they offer complimentary ones or would I have to pay? Just wondering.

Very low. BWV typically operates at close to 100% occupancy and rarely gives points reservations upgrades.

You can't pay cash to upgrade a DVC reservation, it would have to be additional points.

timesharing (renting a points reservation) is not the same as staying at a hotel. upgrades are incredibly rare and virtually always a result of a maintenance issue, not simply that there are other rooms available.

the thing is: you can't "pay" for the upgrade - you don't have any points and you cannot mix a cash and points reservation.

if a better villa (say a 1BR) were available, hopefully they would call the owner and verify whether they are willing to use up those points to upgrade you...but in one case, i believe they upgraded the renter without asking the owner and the owner was on the hook for the extra points. it was a mess.

so basically, it's rude to ask for an upgrade in a timeshare situation (and not well received by hotel CMs either from what i've read on the DIS). it just makes DVC owners nervous when renters suggest they might ask for a better room (at the expense of the owner.)

I forgot about the upgrades being on a point system. This is my first time renting points so I won't dare even ask for an upgrade unless I do so through the person I am renting from.. I am just happy to be renting from a DVC owner at this point and being able to stay in a nice villa for way less that booking through Disney. Thanks everyone!

In your previous post you were asking about a "complimentary" upgrade. I think it would be safe to say that if you ask the owner for a "complimentary" upgrade you will be told "no". Please be prepared to pay for a use of any more points, if the owner even has more points to rent out to you.
