BWV Refurbishment

Hi DIS'ers. I read somewhere else about an expected refurb at the Boardwalk. Does anyone here know if it's true, and if so -what dates? Sadly, I am already thinking about January, 2008 and going to try to book a GV in Feb. of 2007 for the occasion. Just wondering.

Rooms are constantly being maintained and refurbished at all of the DVC resorts. These refurbishments are planned well in advance and rooms are removed from inventory accordingly. And, if a room is in need to extended maintenance on the fly, Disney will handle it same-day between guests, or over span when the room is not needed to meet its commitments to guests.

In short, if you are able to book a room, there should be an accommodation earmarked for you upon arrival.

To my knowledge there has never been a refurbishment on that scale at a DVC resort. If/when one does occur, we will know about it well in advance. DVC will have to adjust their room inventory accordingly a full 11 months ahead of time to avoid over-booking the resort.

They had entire blocks of rooms out of service while they replaced the BWV siding. Maybe not entire wings (it was mostly exterior work - but stretches of rooms on a floor on one side of the resort). Similarly, when they did the pipe replacement a few years ago, they had blocks of rooms out - not whole wings.

Not sure how they do carpet replacement in hallways - that would be your biggest chance of seeing a whole "wing" out of service.
