BWV Refurb

Is it one of the old sofas or the newer style? If the newer style, shouldn't be more than a year or so old, which doesn't sound good for it to be in that kind of shape.

I think it is the newer kind. It has the pillows that you take out as you open which I think is the new style. It is very comfortable, just looks dirty.
And like I said, everything else is very good!

Glad to see BWV is getting some TLC, can't say either way regarding the wallpaper and new door colors, leaning towards the like side though.

Peace,
G4L

i was hoping that they would keep some of the BWV's unique charm. if OP didn't specifically say they were from the BW, i would've thought those hallways were from one of any of the thousands of generic hotels.:sad1:

geez, i'm really going to miss ticking my way on the "fence" to/from my room (yes, every time:rolleyes1) , looking for the hidden mickeys in the carpet.......
i took many, many pics of the decor last time b/c it is part of the BWV "experience". certainly hope they add some special touches to make the BWVs different & whimsical again.

I actually kinda like the new look too. I must admit that many moons ago before we bought DVC we snuck in and walked down the halls just to get a glimpse since we were considering buying. I thought the wallpaper in the hallways was quite odd. I got used to it over the years (since yes we did buy) but the new look might be nice!

Anyone have more info or pics???

I'm hoping the refurb will be done for my trip the end of Sept. I love the BWV!:lovestruc

A girl after my own heart -- Mets and BWV fan. We just saw the Mets (lose unfortunately) on saturday, and we'll be in a BWV 2BR SV last week in July. I'm also anxiously awaiting reports of the (supposed) refurb and could be tempted to abandon our normal "upper floor across from bus stop" location if we can snag a refurbed room.

I am at WDW right now, and just came back from BWV to check out the rehab. I walked down every hallway from the elevators down the first set of hallways....no rehab yet. From the outside, it looks like only the standard side of BWV is getting rehabbed so far (externally, new roof, paint, etc). I would say only 20% of the resort is done so far. They have soooo much more work to do, I doubt it will be done by the end of the year.

Guess I am the only one....but I like the new look!!!!!:cool1: I'll try and get some updated photos when I go to WDW in 10 days!!!;)

I like it too. As a hospitality designer here in NY I can see what they are trying to do. They are trying tom update the look and make it more nantucket/hamptons ish I think.....a little brighter and warmer. I liked the old version too but all hotels need a new lift every few years and bwv was due for one.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I would love to hear your insight about all of the new decor choices being made by DVC at THV, BLT, and AKV. I believe they are all lovely, but somehow seem to miss the mark in some way.

For instance, I saw pictures of the THV and really got what they were going for...but then saw what appeared to be a cheap hotel bedspread on one of the beds. You don't even see that at the Fairfield or Holiday Inn. What were they thinking? Everybody has the wonderful duvets right now that look so clean and crisp. :confused3 BLT was elegant, but yet cold. I know that I have seen modern decor that wasn't cold.

From pictures, I am blown away by the public spaces at Kidani, but not so much by the room decor. Of all things, I loved the dishes in the AKV models, but the room just didn't seem to come together.

What am I missing?

I hear yah. I'm dying to stay in a "new refurbished room", but from everything I've been reading it's not looking too promising. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for Oct. But hey I'll take any room at BWV... there's nowhere else i'd rather be! :cloud9:

Can you believe the injuries we're facing?! It's incredible!! I'd rather they all get it out of their system now while it's still early. Lets Go Mets!

Eh, don't want to whine about it but DH and I loved LOVED the picket fence lining the hallways. Gonna really miss that I think and feel that the new striped design isn't at all special or unique. Oh well....can't do much about it I guess.

Anxious to see lots more pics so I can get comfortable with the new look. LOL LOL

Maybe it's us "Minnesota" folks but we loved the picket fence wallpaper too! Really wanted to find something like it to put up at home! Ah, the bright side...maybe we'll see leftover rolls of the "old stuff" on the mouse surplus website??? We can hope!

I, too, will miss that picket fence wallpaper!!! Guess I'll have to see the new stuff in person to decide if I truly hate it or not! Will get the chance in September :goodvibes

We're at the BWV now, staying on the first floor, down the hall from the new red and blue doors. The section of new wallpaper in the hall is still the same as the OP had posted, but they are working in those 4 rooms. We took a peek, but couldn't see much since there were painters in the rooms. There was furniture and we could see striped drapes. Other than that, not much to report. I doubt if the first floor rehab will be imminent since they were giving some of the "picket fences" in the hall some paint touch ups yesterday.

However, the 5th floor is having work done. The hallway to the right as you get off the elevator has now been blocked off by a temporary metal door and there are all sorts of painters/workmen up there. Hmmm...
