Just enjoyed 12 nights at the BWV over the end of July and Beginning of August this year: 2BR Villa on the 5th floor.

1) Self- parking was easy. Never, never had to go beyond the very first row for a spot and we did a lot of in and out use of the car. Definitely different than it was in the days before Magical Express magically made so many cars disappear...

2) Our room was on the 5th floor -standard view-if you did not know- the 5th floor only exists in some of the BWV- ours was about half way down away from the elevators towards the tennis courts...I had specifically asked if this was NEAR the tennis courts and was told it was...it was not. It was half way to the tennis courts. The buildings truly near the tennis court end only have 4 floors. This was not ideal - was not what we asked for- and was not what the desk clerk told me we were getting. Did it ruin things? No. But it created challenges I hoped to avoid... for future reference don't believe anything they tell you at the desk without checking yourself.
The problems here are- on the 5th floor you may want to be near an elevator at the very least for grocery lugging unless you want to use bell services for every trip for groceries. As I said we were in and out alot, so it was a lot of time up and down stairwells or waiting for elevators. Also the mid building location meant you could not enter easily from the tennis court end--the stairs there also only go to the 4th floor, and of course we were midway from either end. It was good to walk the stairs straight down to the pools. In future I would prefer a SV room on a lower floor ALL the way down near the tennis courts. Easier access to buses, car lot, tennis, etc.

3) THE HALLWAYS ARE WAAAAAAY TOO COLD! As a guest it was usually uncomfortably cold coming home to those hallways. As a member it is uncomfortable thinking about the energy bill they are running up on me cooling those hallways to 65 or 55 or 35 or whatever ridiculously low temp they have them.

4) Maintenance was good, and what was not right or not there they promptly fixed or brought up. (a wobbly, noisy fan, a cookie sheet, dishtowel, etc.)

5) ON a 12 night stay the full clean on days 4 and 12 with trash and towel on day 8 was a bit silly...I mean we left on day 13 and then they had to just do another full clean...and we really needed the full clean more on day 8 than on day 4....

6)The model rooms for AKV seen at SSR are gorgeous--I love the 1br/2 bath set up. I can see staying there in the future if possible.

7)Internet access--even though we are members they tried to charge us for using the Internet...I had to call to have the charges removed....Either call in the beginning or plan on calling at the end. This is something I hear over and over on these boards.

Welcome back to the real world. Regarding cleaning, when we stayed for 12 days we changed the schedule around to have the cleaning earlier. We also thought it silly as originally scheduled so flipped days 8 and 12.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear you had a good time. In terms of the internet, when we were at AV in July, the first screen clearly said that DVC members staying on points received free access. And it was. It never appeared on our bill. Did the first screen say that at BWV?

We've learned the request and "they don't really tell you much" issue from our first stay. We NEVER get a request - and DVC seems to delight in giving us pretty much what we DIDN'T request. And to the people at the front desk, a room halfway down is apparently both "close to the elevators" AND "near the tennis courts!"

Its worked fine - we always find steps we can use - first floor when we requested high floor turned out to be a wonderous thing with kids in the pool all the time. But requests......far as I can tell you get the same results throwing pennies into a wishing well and saying "high floor, close to the tennis courts."

The screen clearly said this charge DOES NOT APPLY to DVC members at BWV--but they put it on the bill...and the weird part was it was not on the bill for everytime...we used the internet every one of the 13 days there--but they charged us for 8 or 9 of the days...

also crisi-- I am sure you are right--I am just advising people to have them show you on a resort map EXACTLY where they are putting you--that might at least give you the option of requesting they look a little harder...

Did you have a good trip? What was the condition of the rooms and hallways? How did you enjoy the BW itself - like the evening activities?

Hope it was a good time.

Thanks for the observations and report. :)

So, how were the buses? I shouldn't really ask since we were at BCV at the same time as your trip.

12 nights at WDW --of course it was great.
We used the buses sparingly- as we drove down and had our own car-- but when I did use them they were pretty darn good. DOn't know if I had relied on them more if I would have been more disappointed...
Crowds were a bit heavier than I had hoped--what witht he economy and WDW offering room discounts from August 3rd i thought that might signal a downturn but I could not see evidence for that...we did everything we wanted, though, including a great side trip to Cocoa Beach.
The weather was -a bit of a disappointment...I come to FLA for heat--most of the first half of our trip, only the first few hours were warm--rain fell for various amounts of time and then the temp stayed in the 70's--NOT what we wanted...later it got hot and that was much more fun...

they were working on the hallways, the rooms were fine. They had evening activities most nights- but we were either pretty tired or out past closing times (2 evening EMH's to midnight and 3am!) and only did a little of that...but what we saw (a magician a couple times) was fun.

FYI, the hallways at BWV have always been kept excessively cold IMO. And my "Preferred view" one time was of the Valet Parking Lot. I guess they considered the puny fountain pond in between the building & the parking lot to be a "water view". If it's not facing the pools it shouldn't be considered a "Preferred View".

That doesn't necessarily help that much - it might and its worth a try. But we asked for that once and the CM looked at me and said (in a very nice way) "I honestly have no idea where that room is....I come to work, I stand behind this desk, I check people in - I don't know how the room numbers are laid out once you get onto the floors...." Which is better than the direct question and lie for a response others have gotten "Is this a handicapped accessible room" "No" - and it turns out that it is. And marginally better than the I'm-not-going-to-engage-you-in-the-moving-you-around-game I've gotten as well ("We asked for a high floor, is there anything available on four or five" "This is the room you've been assigned." That was our wonderous ground floor room.)
