Get to be a bachelor for the BWV leg of our BWV/BCV journey

Have a studio "preferred" view booked for my solo leg - driving the minivan ahead of the family who is flying down

Some questions:

I plan to watch Fantasmic and then walk back to BWV - I have walked the path in the daytime but not at night. Is it lit at night? Is it a relatively "safe" path. I do not mind the walk but wondering if it is ok to walk at night after the show - i.e. will there be other people?

Any specific view I should ask for when I check in? Other than noise factors is there any difference between Luna Park view and the Quiet Pool south of Luna Park view?

Are the balconies all the same size or are they llike BCV - all over the place?

Are there any enclosed balconies?

I am staying at BWV for the first leg since I plan to concentrate on Epcot as well as Studios - regarding Epcot, does the International Gateway open right at Epcot opening time and thus I have a bit longer walk than the people coming from FW side or does it open later when WS opens? Would I be better off driving to Epcot than walking (again, I like walking so distance not a big deal to me - more concerned about access times)?

Finally, please tell me about Jellyrolls...worth a visit or will it be a bore without my charming wife?

Thanks
Jason

The walkway between MGM and BWV is well lit at night. It's an easy walk and is used by many- you'll be in good company.

The International Gateway opens when EPCOT opens. You won't be able to walk thru WS, but can enter the park. CM's will direct you toward Future World past UK and Canada.

If you can enjoy some raucus (but VERRRY talented) piano playing, a great sing-a-long and possibly a few adult beverages without DW, you may enjoy Jellrolls.

Most BWV balconies are the same size. I'm sure others can provide more detail about views and balconies.

Enjoy!

Some balconies are very open and some are very enclosed with some in between. We always get a dedicated 1 bedroom so we have 1 large balcony that stretches from the living room to the bedroom. I like the enclosed balconies because they are more private plus you can still sit out if it's raining.

When I visited BW 2 weeks ago to view a GV, the CM told me there were several studios without balconies. She gave me a listing of the 4th floor ones (as I was going to be booking a GV and studio). I have added those to my room list. FYI, another poster stated she believes the CM gave me Inn not Villas info, so I am really not sure.

If anyone can confirm, that would be great.

Good luck

P.S. Keep the room reports coming. I have had many thank you e-mails for the terrific info everyone has supplied.

The balconies are NOT all the same size. We have been to BWV 4 times and have had everything from huge (plenty of room for table or 2 , 4 chairs) all the way down to barely enough room to have 2 chairs, a tiny table and still be able to open the door. Our experience has been that they have been larger on the lower floors, but that may just be coincidental. Some are open, some are enclosed along the bottom. Again, our experience has been that the enclosed ones have been the lower balconies. I assumed that was so strollers on the Boardwalk were not treated to a view up anyone's skirts!

Just wanted to confirm Doc's post about the walkway to the Studios. We've been on it at many different times of the day from early morning to after Fantasmic and always felt very safe, even at night. It is indeed very well lit and there were always at least a few other people around. It seems that many people either don't know about the walkway or prefer the boat ride, though, so the path was never, ever even close to crowded. I can't imagine that you wouldn't feel safe. If it helps, this 50 something "afraid to walk alone at night in own low crime neighborhood" woman has never felt the least bit afraid on this path at night.

The Friendship boats pass by on the canal quite frequently and it is really only about a 10-15 minute walk from the Studios entrance to the back end of the Villas. We much prefer walking to waiting for a boat and often are back in our room before the boat reaches the BWV dock (as you probably know, the boat stops at Swan/Dolphin dock as well as the YC/BC dock before getting to the BW dock).

Enjoy your trip!

P.S. JellyRolls can be a hoot and IMHO, a good choice for a solo traveler. You may enjoy it so much that you will want to return to share the experience with your charming wife on another evening.

Would I be better off driving to Epcot than walking
I think all your other questions have been answered but this one. No, you are better off walking to Epcot from BWV then driving. Epcot is a very short walk away so even if FW is your destination it is still faster, easier and less distance to walk from BWV then to drive, park etc. You are better off walking or taking the boat to MGM also but if you are inclined to drive to MGM it is simple, just come right out the Boardwalk front entrance and go straight across the street.
