BWV question

I am in the process of booking another trip to WDW...we need to get a studio for this trip because we took a few trips last year(wanted to bring my Grandmother )and had to borrow some points from this use year....
Anyway, we own at Saratoga Springs and although we LOVE it we have stayed there the last 4 times down. I was thinking of staying at the Boardwalk..how is it??? What is the difference between "views"...i understand boardwalk, but what does prefered mean??? I have heard people say they don;t like staying there because you have to leave the resort to get something to eat??? Is that a problem any of you have? Thanks so much, i want to get this done soon, i really love the area there and i think my girls would love it.

"Leaving the resort to get something to eat..........." , pretty much means going downstairs to the Boardwalk and grabbing either a bite at a CS (Bakery), or having a sit-down meal (Spoodles, etc.). Plus, every nearby resort, YC/BC and S/D have plenty of food choices, too!
BW is one of our home resorts, as is SSR, and it's no less "convenient" than having to go to Artist's Palette, or DTD for something to eat.
As far as views, BW view is self-explanatory; standard is usually facing the front, mainly the driveway up to the resort, and preferred is generally "none of the above" . We like them all and have never had a bad view.

LOL thanks....i couldn't understand why they would say that about having to leave to eat...i heard this from 2 or 3 different familes too. I guess if you are used to maybe a value resort where they have a food court right in the main building, then it would be a lot different?? IDK..Dh and i thought it was funny, and kind of felt silly even asking but oh well...
Im happy to hear about the different views...so i guess you could save a lot of points and just get a standard view, i think my girls might like a view of the boardwalk at night..can you see the fireworks??? Thanks so much for the quick response!!!!

If you want to try the BWV by all means try it! The "going outside" is a problem in the rain, and we've been caught quite a few times. Sometimes we're just going to the Screen Door, general store and it's sunny and when we are going back to the room it's pouring. It is a nuisance, but not unbearable.

I do feel sorry for all SSR owners who seem to feel they have to say "I love SSR, but want to try something." Maybe I'm just overly sensitive for you, but if you get the ressie at another resort, good! That's what DVC offers, enjoy!

LOL please don't feel sorry for me...we really do LOVE SSR and would go back in a second...my girls just think the "clown pool" is pretty cool..lol

I owe a SSR but love BWV so we stay there when ever possible at the 7 month window.

What I love about BWV:
1. Walking distance to both Epcot and MGM.
2. Night Life without having to go to DTD. (ESPN - Nachos Rule!!!)
3. Awesome pool and slide with the bar over looking the pool so that DH can watch sports and still be involved with DS.
4. Loads of Restaurant choices. (Beaches n Creams - yummy!)
5. Can save points by booking a standard view room.

I am sure I can think of more. but I think that covers the things my family really loves about BWV.

Another great option which we did last year was to get carryout from Big River Brewing Company and eat out by the BWV pool. Big River has a great blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, and that out by the pool with an adult beverage overlooking MGM, and then a stroll on the Boardwalk afterwards for some fun evening entertainment made for a fantastic evening!

Mahi-mahi is a Hawaiian word that means "strong-strong" for dolphin fish. This species is found in tropical and subtropical waters throughout the world. Generally, smaller dolphin fish range from 2-5 pounds, while 40-50 pound fish are not uncommon. Dolphin fish have a short life span of three or four years.

Dolphin fish are not to be confused with porpoises, which at times are also called dolphin. Dolphin fish (mahi-mahi) are cold-blooded members of the fish family, while porpoises are mammals and are protected by law. The mahi-mahi is a beautiful fish also known as "dorado". The fish has green and gold flanks that light up with a rainbow of iridescent colors that fade with time. Many retailers will display whole mahi-mahi because they are so striking and to help dispel the myth that they are related to Flipper.

It is not dolphin, as many people have been incorrectly led to believe. The obvious answer is ... fish, but, I also wanted to look to to see what a more precise answer would be. I brought my aunt in January for her first trip. WE stayed at BWV and she insisted that we had to leave the hotel to get something to eat. I couldn't convince her that eating at the Boardwalk Bakery or Spoodles , or Flying fish were part of the resort.


Next time she can stay in and COOK me dinner

You will LOVE BWV. The location, within walking distance to EPOT and MGM, is the best. Other things there that your kids might like (depening on their ages)-
Community Hall- arts and crafts, games, free popcorn, etc.
Mini-golf next to the Swan and Dolphin
Feeding the ducks that you can see from your room in the Standard View rooms.
