NOTE: This is a somewhat long thread about where the units that make up the BWV SV points are located.
In looking into some of the questions raised in the 2011 points chart thread, I put together a spreadsheet of some unit details.
For each individual unit # I listed the number of each of the four room types, along with the floor, view and general location in the building.
Once I had that information I was curious to see if I could determine what units made up the Standard View rooms, as I remembered there to be a discussion on this a few years back.
Well as was talked about in the points chart thread, we found that there was no indication in the declaration papers as to a particular view category. In fact the number of points allocated for each of the four room types remains consistent across the board for each unit within the resort regardless of floor, view, etc. So just looking at the declaration does not reveal SV units.
So I had to do some math to find the answer.
Well to no surprise to myself (and I am sure many of you), if you add up the number of each room type for all the units that view the Entrance/Driveway along with those that view the Tennis Courts/Parking Lot, you get 15 Dedicated Studios, 23 Dedicated 1-Bedroom, and 37 Dedicated 2-Bedroom Units. These totals match exactly to what had also been expected.
I tried swapping out units to see if there were other units that could be considered SV if I made any/part/all of the Tennis Court Views PV, but I could get nothing else to work. In particular I tired working with those bhind the slide and those facing the Activity Lawn (Swan). So I feel fairly certain that these in fact were the particular units used to calculate SV rooms for the points charts.
The reason I mentioned this is because in the discussion a few years back one member (I believe it was Maria) was given the Tennis Court View when staying on PV points. When she questioned Member Services she was told that the room she had was PV.
Well there is nothing that prevents DVC from saying that a given room that has a view of the Tennis Court and a Side View of Water can't be called PV. But if in fact the particular room(s) is PV then which room(s) are SV in their place as there needs to be 15 ST, 23 1br, and 37 2br SV units for the points chart to remain balanced.
There has not been any recent reports of rooms away from the Entrance Way or Tennis Courts as being SV. There were reports of people being given view of the sales trailers near the Swan when staying on SV in the past, but I would think it would have been unfair, dishonest, and borderline illegal if DVC had upgraded the Tennis Court View simply to downgrade the rooms with views of the Sales Trailer. (Which by the way were placed on the POS declared Activity Lawn with no compensation being given to the association - but that was another argument all together.
)
Anyway - I don't know if the individual member ever got any satisfaction from DVC (again I think it was Maria), but this information just makes me feel even stronger that she was deceived by DVC with the PV/SV shuffle.
