BWV Preffered vs. Standard Views

We are currently planning our next stay at the BWV (Oct 03). Here is my dilemma...we have gotten spoiled by staying at the 1-bedroom, preferred views for the past several years. We now have a baby and a 5-yr. old and it works out well to have the separate bedroom for quiet. That being said...we realize that we are using sooo many more points for the 1-bedroom versus the studio, but we really think it would make our trip a lot harder (the kids don't sleep well), if we just had the studio and all had to sleep in one room. So...I had the idea to get a 1-bedroom standard view which would save us quite a few points (allow us to extend our stay by a few days), but we are used to a great boardwalk view and looking at Illuminations nightly. We also thought about a studio for several nights and a 1-bedroom for several nights, but then we need to pack up and move and we really don't think being in a studio would be good for us...Any advice on the standard view 1-bedrooms?? Or any other ideas?? Thanks!!

I had a 1 bedroom standard view last week (room 4103) and it had a great view of Illuminations. We were on the 4th floor across from the bus stop. We could see the top of the American Pavillion from our room and Illuminations over the roof of the Conference Center. We could even hear the music. After reserving a preferred view at 11 months 3 years ago and not getting the Boardwalk view, I always save the points and book standard. I can't believe in a couple weeks it will be time to do the day by day routine for next December! If you want to go in October, you better call now, standard views book up quick.

hi: we've done several trips with both view types, but never the elusive bw view. we actually like saving the points on the sv units. go for the standard view in my opinion.

If you've had a Boardwalk view room every time you've stayed (assuming it's been more than once), you have been very, very lucky. What's your secret????

Let's put it this way: if you are actually thinking about a standard view for Oct 2003, you better call immediately to see if anything is available as every standard view may already be gone leaving the wait list as the option. Those are limited in number and high in demand because of their lower points.

As to view changes, it will be a let down from boardwalk view although standard is not really worse than any of the preferred views other than boardwalk view and there is no guarantee you will get that boardwalk view next time.

We tend to call at 11 months and always request std view. We called at 9 months once and waitlisted for std and it came through. We always do it to conserve points because the times we did preferred we always got a view of the quiet pool. I'd rather sit on the balcony with a cocktail and watch the comings and goings at the main entrance.

Thanks for the warnings everyone. We called today...no problem. 9 nights with a standard view.

We have actually been very lucky. We have had a boardwalk view the last 3 years. We have been on the 5th floor each time. The last two years we were even in the same room..5001. Just lucky I guess.

We have always stayed in a studio with five. DH, myself, DS9, DS5 and DD3. We request the child size daybed for DD. We looked in to a one bedroom once, but we would lose sleeping room for one. We don't spend enough time in the room to justify a one bedroom. We have had a Boardwalk view overlooking the gassy area right ouside the lobby. If you watch in the evening right over the middle between YC/BC you can see the MK fireworks!

We ALWAYS obtain a standard view, either studio or 1 bedroom. At times we've been able to see ILLUMINATIONS, but generally we seldom use the room during our trips aside from "crashing".....:D :D :D

The times we've stayed at BWV, we've always gotten a standard view, and, quite frankly, I enjoy it. We have overlooked the entrace/portico area, and I like watching the activity as I am sitting out on my deck, enjoying a beverage. The lights at night are very pretty also.

We, too, are going to be at BWV in October 2003 and, as we were so concerned about getting the one bedroomed standard view room, we called and booked night by night as the 11 month window opened. Probably did not need to but we had no flexibility on dates (school half term week) so it was better safe than sorry.
We even booked the flights as soon as the airline allowed us (Delta London/Cincinnati/Orlando) to avoid disappointment. Nothing left to do now but contain our excitement.
