Our member booklet lists these two views. What's the difference in where you are? Also, I really don't want a view overlooking the Boardwalk, DH is a light sleeper, and wouldn't like it. Which view would be more likely to avoid that?

Preferred is Boardwalk, Main Pool, Quiet Pool, Dolphin & canal views. Standard is along the front driveway and around the pond in front. I've stayed in both - I think the standard view is fine and less points. We had quiet pool for the preferred view, it was OK, we could see the canal & MGM. For standard view, we were in the corner above the pond and could see the Epcot fireworks. I actually liked the standard better and saved 34 points for 6 nights (1 bedroom). The only problem was our room was wayyyyyy down the hall. But it was quiet since there were only a few rooms past ours. The pond area was pretty, I had requested it. I have a standard view reserved for this December, I didn't make a request. We'll take our chances, if we're near the pond we'll have a better view, if not we willn't be as far down the hall.

Simba's Mom-We have had SV twice and PV once. We had a room above Wyland galleries(pv). IT WAS THE BEST!!!!!! We saw epcot and Y&BC and S&D No noise! At least not from the Boardwalk noise! The hallway, that's another story! We have enjoyed the points saving and the view from the SV also. Once we were about 1/2 way down and the other we were 2-3 doors down from the elevators. A plus for the walking but not the best view as it was right next to the bell services and we heard service trucks early in the am. It's hit or miss. Keep your expectations low no matter what view, and you are sure to be pleased to ectatic.

Debbie, I think we were together on a post before the boards went down. I take it you got all your SV days 1st of Dec at BWV. We did too. This will be our longest planned trip ever! Five nights at WLV and 7 nights at BWV. Have you ever stayed this time period and seen the x-mas decorations at either resort? Have you stayed in Dec. to know what the weather is like? We will be "home" to VWL in April but we are so looking forward to our other "home" at BWV as it will be almost 2 years.

Yes, we got all our nights (Dec 7 to 13), I got the confirmation yesterday.

We've been there the first or second week of December the past 4 years (last 2 at BWV, other 2 at moderates). 3 of the 4 years, the weather was beautiful, mid 70's to low 80's. In 2000, it was only highs in the low 60's and cold at night. The Christmas decorations are beautiful at both WL & BW (GF, YC/BC are also great to see). We love this time of year, don't miss the Candlelight Processional, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MK), Osborne Lights.

Simba's Mom....

You don't indicate which DVC resort is your home, but getting the standard view at 7 months appears to be difficult many times of the year. Many BWV owners seem to like to stretch their points and gobble up the precious few standard view rooms at the 11 month mark.

On the other hand, you never know until you pick up the phone and dial MS!!

Scoop's right, you never know until you call. But, as usual, the key is to have some flexibility. Back in September, we reserved two weeks in May/June, and SV was not available. It was also not available for two weeks around July 4th. (July 4th wasn't available in a studio at all...). Since we are not running short of points, we didn't bother with the wait list. Besides, this is our first trip as members, and I like the rooms with a view...

I did 3 SV and 1 PV before. I don't think the PV worths the extra points, unless you get the BW views or higher floors where you can actually see the fireworks. Since you DH doesn't like noise, I will just stick with SV.

SV are usually rooms facing the parking lot, the ponds. I got 1st floor SV most of the time, and faced very quiet lawn view. The one time I get PV, I faced the noisy pool (sort of). But we end up closing that shade all the time, so it makes no difference.

IMHO, PV are good for those who stayed at the resort most of the trip.

hi: we, too, prefer the sv because we're not out on the balcony much and we like to see the epcot fireworks from the room. on the pvs we've had (quiet pool, main pool, 2 canal views) it was nice to be able to watch some of the higher fantasmic fireworks. for us, it's not worth the difference in points. we've never gotten a boardwalk view, even when we booked at 11 months.

We prefer the standard view.
