BWV pool ?

Does the Luna pool at BWV have zero depth entry?
How does the slide at BWV compare to other resort water slides?
Is there a water spray play area the pool?

We have a 3 year old and are thinking of staying at BWV instead of BCV this year.
We love BCV and SAB but are ready for a change this year.

I have seen some bad reviews of BWV recently and we are hesitant to try it now.

BWV's Kieser coaster slide is often rated as a top slide in WDW as it's smoother on the back than the SAB slide.
I do not believe there is zero depth entry.

But for a 3yo... they just have a basic little kid pool and a nearby no water playground.

With a 3yo, I'd much rather use the pools at Kidani (great kids splash area), Poly (great kids splash area. And even the quiet pool is s nice zero entry salt water pool), SSR Paddock (nice kids splash area) and, I think VGF...

VWL also put in a kids splash area-haven't stayed there since it opened but it does look nice and VGF definitely has a nice looking one too.

I have seen some bad reviews of BWV recently and we are hesitant to try it now.

There are bad reviews of every resort and good reviews too. You really have to sift thru the info but I'd not give it a bad review. BWV was recently one of the resorts that received room refurbs much along the line of BCV.

We FAR prefer the slide at BWV to SAB but there is no zero entry and the childs area is a small splash pool. I think it may be the one remaining DVC resort that doesn't have a water spray play area somewhere for kids.

The Luna Park pool at BWV has no zero entry area. At the shallowest end it has a built-in stairway entry with a handrail. There is a standard kiddie pool and a nearby little playground that has no water sprays. The slide is very long and good but slides into the deepest part of the pool.

One consideration: how is your child with clowns? There have been incidents of people who were unable to use the pool because their young child was terrified of the large clown face that wraps around the slide area.

It's the best slide on property that I've used. Fabulous terrific slide.


I cannot stand zero entry. It takes up so much of the pool and makes me feel like I'm slogging through, well, water, which is heavy, to get into or out of the pool.

At the shallowest end it has a built-in stairway entry with a handrail.

That's the kind of entry I prefer, and so does DS.


When DS was little he had a proper swim vest on at all times in my brother's pool and we were right there, so we could go in any depth of pool.

OK, backup. When he was around your child's age we foolishly used those blowup arm wings. I had JUST read here on the Dis that they can be dangerous, thought "oh whatever", and went on a trip to my brother's. In arm's reach, but not directing facing each other, DS nearly drowned BECAUSE of the water wings. He put his arms up in fun and then couldn't get them down. The wings kept him from being able to put his arms back down, and the whole process put his mouth under water. it was all completely silent and the only way I realized was because my brother, who was doing laps while we chatted (and I was IN the water), turned around and saw DS behind me. I reached out and got DS.

*After that* he had a proper swim vest all clipped on him properly, so he was fine (in arm's reach and with someone facing him) even in the deepest end of the pool. He never much cared for kid sized pools at all. (and by the time we got to WDW when he was 6 he was too tall for the water play areas...other 6 year olds were there, but not him because they go by height)

Its a wonderful pool - the slide is fantastic. But it is perhaps the worst pool option for a small child. The only slide is big with a lot of twists - which is one of the reasons its fantastic, but not great for little ones. No zero entry - and the whole pool is deep - the shallowest part of the pool off the steps is waist high and it drops quickly from there so in the middle of the pool, you'd have a hard time standing if you were less than five and a half feet or so. The kiddie pool is a little circle of shallow water, nothing else.

We also put our kids in swim vests at the BWV pool when they were little (the resort provides them) and they had a great time - but I preferred zero entry at that age.

We just got back from BWV. My DD, age 4 (almost 5) really liked the kiddie pool area at BWV. She liked the elephant that sprays water in the pool and having the playground right next to the kiddie pool (and the entire area is fenced in separate from the main pool) was really nice. She would find other 3 and 4 year olds each day in the area to play with and they would run about. To go in the main pool, she would put her life vest on and walk down the stairs and swim around with us and loved swimming under the spraying elephant in the main pool. The whole area is very visible. We enjoyed it. The slide was still being painted when we were there, and my DD and I were very disappointed! We hope to go again next year and give it a try!
