BWV POOL Fences

I wonder if this may be more an insurance issue more then keeping people out. While that may be part of it as well. Safety issue when not open. We have an in ground pool and per our insurance it must be fenced. Just wondering.

I think I had read that there was a FL statute or perhaps county or something that requires pools to be fenced in. Disney had somehow avoided having to do this but that pass may have been pulled.

Has anyone here tried getting into the BWV quiet pool early am? Did your MB open the gate no matter what time or did you have to wait for a certain time to access the area? We are usually down there 7:30 to 8am for coffee and breakfast.

I hope they aren't going to have the pools closed when there's no lifeguard present. About the only time I use the pool is early morning or late in the evening. BLT poster said that one doesn't open til 10 a.m. I think that's unreasonable for my vacation resort.

I think they began installing fences after a little boy drowned at one of the values, swimming with his family late at night without a lifeguard present. So they may not open the pools outside of lifeguard hours. But I agree that 10 AM is too late for a resort pool to open in Florida. 8 AM seems more reasonable.

Oh, no doubt.

Another thing I thought is that a simple fence might keep a certain type of water-loving prehistoric creature out, when one of them might just walk along the sidewalk to get to the water. A fence might stop it. (or maybe not; I'm not an expert on alligators...it's just what I thought when I first heard about this)

I looked more closely after we left and you are correct. The gates are not locked and do not need a MB to enter (I believed the sign, LOL). That said, it appears they do plan to add that feature soon. The gates look as though there is a spot to add the MB access hardware.

We found it odd the key card wasn't needed during our recent stay early Oct.

Honestly, didn't really notice the fencing there after initial sighting. They did a good job blending it in with landscaping IMO.

The BWV bar is inside the gated area btw.

One question I have is whether or not we will be able to access the quiet pool early am. We literally spend our days (most) reading and swimming, relaxing and to get one of the "umbrella " tables we are usually down there by early am having our coffee and breakfast.

The quiet pool's hours are posted as 7-11. Since the fences have locks on them, they are locked outside of those hours. Walking by the main pool one evening in an attempt to shortcut my way to my room, I discovered the main pool locked after its operating hours of 9-9 on our vacation.

I wonder if they'll fence in the massive SAB now? I hope so. Those poor CM's have to stand there for hours on end to check magic bands all day, when they could be put to good use. I do hope once the the quiet BCV pool is fenced in, will have MB access 24 hrs all day, I went down there at 12:30 AM last week and there were plenty of people quietly swimming, it was so nice after a busy park day.

They were adding a taller fence around Stormalong Bay when we walked to the Yacht Club this week. The fence was being added along the side of the entrance to the Yacht Club lobby. The added fence was the same fence as what was recently added to Boardwalk. I remember wondering why they were adding this fence as there was already a fence there so perhaps they'll be redoing the entire SB fence?
