It has been reported on another site. that Disney is now having the security guards at BW ask people what they want. If a restuarant and they don't have a ADR - then they are turning them around. If visiting a person and they can't give a name. then turning them around.

anyone else just loving it!!!

that might actually be room for BWV and BWI guests in their parking lot for the first time!!!! :thumbsup2 :dance3: :yay:

going in March - sure hope this rule is still in effect then.

oh for bw patrons - there is another parking lot - across the street. This one has no security guards. so you can still park here. just leave the bw resort parking for bw resort guest.

I don't think this is necessarily new, I've been asked a few times at BW over the years. But it may be something that is becoming more of a necessity because of the people trying to park there for theme park access.

I think it is a good thing if they enforce it, though.

That's all well and good, but we have driven over to BWV several times and parked for the express purpose of dining on the Boardwalk. The ESPN Club is our usual destination. Guess what? They don't take ADRs there. So they'll turn us around? Not very smart of them.

Don't get me wrong....BWV is one of our home resorts. But if they are making it inconvenient for people to give them money, my guess is it won't last.

Of course, we mostly use valet parking so this hasn't been a big issue for us. I might feel a lot differently if we had to self park all the time when staying at BWV.

Well I'll let you know how this works. We leave this Sunday for a 12 night stay at BWV. We have stayed several times recently and have to say, parking in the evenings can be a chore, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. We love using our room card to open the gate, especially when the line for the guard is very, very long. I'm sure nothing has changed much, but with food and wine, it's always a challenge to park when we stay there.

I've only stayed at BWI once, and BWV once. I don't like to use valet parking -- free or not, it just goes against the grain for me to hand the keys to my car over to a total stranger. At any rate, I thought the parking for the Villas was very poor. Since we didn't use the valet parking, we wound up walking across a mostly-empty valet parking lot to get to our room. :headache: In my opinion they could probably cut the valet lot down to about a third of its present size, still have plenty of valet parking, and increase the parking for others by that much.

there is another parking lot across the street from BW resort - that is for the BW customer - you walk will be only 5 minutes (if that much longer).

now if you are using valet parking not self parking - I would ask the security guard if that makes a different. It probably won't. At the mk resorts they give out a 3 hours parking pass unless the resort is full - then you are asked to park somewhere else.

this is all this is doing. making it fair for the bw resort guests and bw customer.

now if there wasn't another parking deck just across the street - I could definitely understand you being upset. but there is.

besides I though the Epsn club was moving to DTD?

oh I forgot - this is only on the weekend - not week days - so fri, sat and sun - only right now.

most of the visitors upset have been locals (orlando and surrounding area) who were use to parking here.

hope they kept this program and expand it to the entire week.

We just got back from the BWV last weekend not only were they asking for room keys and looking at the parking pass at the main gate, but they also had a guard stationed in the parking lot turning away folks who did not belong there. There was plenty of parking in the lot, even in the first row.

It's only fair that hotel guests should get the best parking options. I've parked in the "visitors" lot before and it is definitely not much of a chore to walk over from there.

oh that sounds wonderful!

I have never been able to park in the first row.:rotfl:

thanks for the first hand report.:3dglasses :woohoo:

last year when we stayed at BWV on the weekend they had the parking lot blocked off on the weekend too. so maybe this is during the Wine and Food Fest too. I hope not, it would be a good idea since I have had a room that faced that area and sit out on the deck area and watch the people coming from the fest and going to their cars in that parking lot and also getting off the bus and going to the parking lot. Thanks for the updates...:goodvibes This year staying at SSR, and thats another issue with the people coming from DTD and getting on and off the Congress Park bus especially on the weekends also.

I honestly didn't know about 2 parking lots at BWV, and now I'm really confused. When we take a left and go thru where the gate is, we pull in to a parking lot on the left. There always seem to be plenty of parking places there. Is that not the BWV/BWI parking lot? I've never noticed a shortage of parking places. Or is it there a different lot that people who use valet parking get(come to think of it, I've never seen cars being valet parked in the lot we use)? You know, there could be another lot right around there, I just never noticed. And I've never stayed at BWV with a car, just visiting people or the Boardwalk area. Are you talking about a lot other than the one we've used? I'm just wondering, where is it?

There's a parking lot across the street...if the resort is on your left, there's a parking lot on the right, but doesn't it also have a gate? I've never used it, so maybe that's not the lot that spiceycat is referring to. You actually have the cross the street that leads down to the BC if you're parking in the lot I'm talking about.

In case anyone is confused, take a look at this map:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=28.365442,-81.553563&spn=0.00473,0.007296&t=h&z=17&om=0

I see it as three parking lots. When you are driving up to the Boardwalk, you normally turn left off Epcot Resort Blvd and go past the guard shack. After driving past the guard shack, there is a lot on your right, which is near the entrance to the BW, and a lot to your left, which is farther from the door and touches the tennis courts. Most folks posting in this thread have talked about the spaces to your right, and the spaces to your left as being one lot.

If you look at the map, you'll see another lot on the right (East) of Epcot Resorts Blvd. This lots touches the Hess Station (green roof building). That's the lot people are saying is for folks visiting the Boardwalk. It doesn't have a guard.

You think it is only for the Food & Wine Festival? How is the BCV parking lot looking now?

salmoneous...thanks for the great satellite link. Looks like tons of empty spaces! :rolleyes1

Frankly, as I indicated, it doesn't bother me if they enforce more strictly or not since we normally use valet parking. But I will throw my vote with the additional security helping the self-parkers staying at BWV/BWI! :thumbsup2

spicey....I parked in the first row twice during our trip last summer. Yes, it's nice on those toasty July days! :sunny:

That is good to hear. I'll post back too. We leave in a couple of days!!

the big building lot that is most empty is valet parking. (really those 2 parking lots)

the self parking is the one near the BWI and even in your pictures I won't call it empty.

the problem generally starts at night - 5 to 7 pm - and these people always leave around 9:15 to 10:00 pm - they are here to see Illiuinations. So when you come back at say 6pm and the lot is completely full - and that night you look out (always get a standard view) and the lot is just about empty. this has a tendency to make one mad.

several times when staying at BWV - probably at least half. we went off to eat, shop, go to AK, when spicey was alive go visit him. When we came back the self parking lot was full - so it was either use valet parking or go across to the other parking lot.

now when BWV was first opened I used valet parking alot. but it sometime took them a long time to find my car. So it is easier for me to get my car myself. Plus I don't have to give anyone else the keys. that did bother me...

okay I am strange.
