BWV or VWL early December

I have booked a 2 bedroom BCV Dec. 3-12, 2004. What do you think my chances are of switching to either BWV or VWL at the 7 month mark? Has anyone had any success with this for early December? If I have to waitlist should I do it day by day or for the whole stay?

Chances of switching are hard to say. The BWV people like their lower SV points and may not want to give it up. VWL is the smallest DVC resort and very very popular in Dec.

I have never waitlisted yet, so I have no particular personal experience for you.

Waitlisting day by day may be best for you, but then you run the risk of possibly not getting all your days and having to move. On the flip side, waitlisting for the entire time will probably be harder to get period.

I think you have a chance at being able to switch...maybe with SSR opening, people may try the new place. But I wouldn't call it a certainty. The best you can do it try and call at 7 months and see what you can get.

I think your chances of getting a standard view at BWV at 7 months are slim at best. For preferred view I think your chances are good. Your chances at WLV might be a little less then preferred view at BWV because this is a big resort during the holidays. However your trip is in the earlier part of the month of Dec so you might still be ok. I would get on a wait list for both resorts if you can not get either the first try. Good luck!

Our last trip, the first week in December this past year, started out at OKW (that's where my friend who I was renting points from has her home), but really didn't want to stay there ***nothing personal***! Anyway, at 9am at the seven month mark, she called to see if we could switch to any other DVC resort and the only one bedroom available was at BWV, preferred view. BCV and VWL were both booked. We switched to BWV and were very happy with it!

Not impossible to switch but that time of year very difficult as it is a very high DVC demand time.

Thanks for your replies. We stayed at the BCV's in December 2002. I loved it but would like to try a different resort this time. I'd like to try them all eventually. Hopefully something will be available at the 7 month mark. But if not I won't be disappointed.

You never know. Call right at the 7 month window. Sometimes people will reserve at their home (say their home is BWV), then at 7 months they call back to switch over to where they really want to stay, say VWL. Poof! An opening for you! I suspect this is how I got my standard view studio at BWV at the 7 month window for early December last year, because when MS checked to satisfy my curiousity at 10 1/2 months, there were none available. It's worth a try!

I have been able to switch to the BWV standard view 1-bdr at the 7 month point in the past. I never tried VWL as I own there now so I can book 11 months out. I would try calling at 7 months and see if you can switch. Both are beautiful resorts that time of year so you cannot go wrong!! Good Luck!!
