We are a family of 4, the kids are 7 and 4 and were wondering would you do a studio at BWV for a week in december or a 1 bedroom at OKW for the first week in December.

We are new to DVC and would appreciate any help you guys can give.

The first week of December is very popular for DVC owners and it books up fast. You are already within the 7 month mark, so you should call TODAY and see what is available and get something on the books ASAP. As a family of 4, you will be more comfortable in a 1-BR. We went 12/4 - 12/11 last year and had a great time, other than the fact that is was freezing the whole week.

Have fun planning! :welcome: Home!!!

i hope you don't mean this december. all of december is a peak period for booking DVC.

most would probably prefer BWV as the decorations are a little more ornate and you can walk to DHS and epcot.

with younger kids, VWL and BLT are popular choices as they are closer to the MK but they would be super tough to get into during december unless you own there.

OKW is very nice, though, and very recently renovated. the theming and decorations are just more subtle.

If you're hoping for Dec. this year your choices may be very limited if available at all so you may have to split stay between two or more resorts; although split stays are somewhat of an interruption I'd look at it in a positive light as it will be an opportunity to try out different DVC resorts and that can be an interesting adventure for your first trip DVC'ing :goodvibes

But back to your original question, even though OKW is our Home Resort and our family really loves it , for December I think I'd go with BWV if that is available as it gives you the ability to walk to other resorts, take in the holiday decorations, carnival entertainers during the early evening hours at Boardwalk, Community Hall adjacent to the villas pool & your kids can also participate in kid's activities that may be scheduled over at BCV too, and if you're looking for some adult time Yacht/Beach resort has supervised child care begininning at 4:30 (approx $12 per hour per child includes kid's meal dinner if there during dinner time)

Have fun planning ! :)

Considering the size issue, I would defnitely go for OKW. We enjoy spreading out in the room and having more than one tv. My children are the same age as yours and they get a kick out of sleeping in the living room.

I already have confirmed availability at both resorts which is why i'm asking which we should take. There is a 1BR at OKW available and a Studo at BWV available. Just wondering with kids which would be better. I would love the extra space of a one bedroom but transportation wise would BWV be easier on such young kids? Being able to boat to epcot and MGM or busing to everywhere at OKW.

in my opinion:

*boat at BWV to epcot and DHS > buses at OKW

*buses at OKW to MK and AK > buses at BWV to MK and AK

the boardwalk is a fun area though if you budget some free time to hang out and watch the performers (jugglers, magicians, sword eaters...)

OKW is a great resort and the 1BRs are about 1000 sq feet...some posters are a fan of the king bed in the 1BRs and the associated "nookie perk" that the wall between the bedroom and living room provides.

either one is a good choice, just depends on your personal preferences...

If I were bringing 2 children, I would for sure take the 1 bedroom. In OKW there even is a sleeper chair, so the kids won't have to sleep together. (Waitlist for the 1 bedroom at BWV, if you really want the convenience), but I would opt for OKW at this point.

I'd take the OKW 1 bedroom if it was available. Then you would have a queen sized sleeper sofa and the twin sized sleeper bed available for the two kids (and the king bed for you and your spouse). Otherwise, you'll just have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa.

A studio is just a glorified hotel room. Might as well indoctrinate the family into DVC the right way.
