BWV open vs. solid wood balconies

Has anyone ever requested an "open" balcony and had that request honored?

I never made a request one way or the other, but I prefer the wooden balcony. You have more privacy and if the weather is bad you are covered. I appreciated it in 2002 when we had 24 hour heavy rains twice, could still sit out.

We've had both also and also prefer the covered. I've never requested one or the other, however.

I always request the open balconies. I've been doing so for the last two or three visits, and have had that request honored. I had closed balcony once and HATED it. It made the room so dark.

Just recently had a "closed" balcony and didn't care for it at all. I like to be able to sit and look out, not stand the entire time.

We like the view much better with an open balcony also. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Anyone have pictures, so I can "picture" which is which, so I have in mind, what I may like best.

there are also 4 balconies on the boardwalk that are solid right up to about 4ft or so. i know because unfortunately we got one on our first trip home this past summer i was disappointed to say the least.

we were in room 5013...in this photo it's the top floor, second balcony from the right.
