BWV no availability at 11 mos!!!

I can't even believe it!!!! I am so upset I can't even think straight!
I tried to get BWV for June 03 and it's already booked up (2 BR)!

Are you trying for a 2BR standard or preferred view room? If you want a standard then that's probably correct since there is a much smaller number of those rooms available and due to the lower number of points needed they tend to go very quickly. The best way to do a standard view room is to call every day and make your request.

Denise.... Just waitlist.... it should come through. Once that 7 month window opens up a lot of rooms changes are made.

Wow! Just curious, are you calling in day by day, or from your check-out day? Is this the first day you are able to call? Did you go ahead and get waitlisted for what you want? With this much time ahead of you, I'm sure your plans will all work out, but I do understand your frustration! Good luck!

I have been waitlisted for almost every trip to the BWV, even calling day by day. For our trip last month(first week of June), I was able to snag the first 3 of our 6 nights at BW by calling EVERY single day in Feb. and March(I love you, Garth!) I truly thought that I would be able to stay at the BWV, albeit last-minute, but it did not happen. We spent our last 3 nights at OKW, and discovered again how much we like the place. We have our annual NYE trip scheduled to the BWV, and I am(you guessed it)...waitlisted for the 31st, even though I was able to get standard view for the 2 previous nights, and I called at 9 am, day by day, at 11 months out! How weird would it be to spend 2 nights in a standard view, then 2 nights in a preferred?

yes, I waitlisted. I emailed last week and they just responded today. Last year we had no trouble at all getting standard view for June. Also, I found out that someone at MS had used my BWV points for my HH ressie (only 10 points, thankfully) that we just came back from. I don't know why they would have done that when the ressie was for HH and we were adding on a day at HH with (I thought) -- HH points. Oh, well.
I hope it will all work out. Time will tell.

No offense, but right after school lets out is pretty busy. And it is not technically eleven months now. July 3rd would have been 11 months...sounds like you waited over 3 weeks for a real busy time. Not dumping on you, I hope it comes through, but we never take a chance when it is a time we REALLY want.

It's hard to count on what will be a "slow time" anymore, but having said that, a week or two after school lets out is real popular!

I'm sorry, but I think this thread is mistitled. There appears to be availability at BWV during that time, just not a standard view. While I am certainly disapppointed for BWVDenise, I don't think that "selling out" the standard views is that surprising given how few there are relative to preferred views. Indeed, if I understand correctly, the resort need only be about 20% booked for the standard views to be gone. Hope you have luck with the wait list!

I was just referring to June of 2003 (thus, 03) and not specific dates. No, I didn't wait 3 weeks.
I guess I didn't realize that there are so few standard view rooms.
As far as it being a popular or busy time, I suppose I am surprised because of past experience (which I mentioned, don't want to keep repeating)

However, MS did tell me that the preferred view 2 BRs are almost completely booked as well!

FWIW, June 29, 2003 is the Sunday before the 4th of July. It doesn't surprise me at all that the standard view rooms book quickly for this week. The week of July 4th is probably one of the most popular summer weeks for vacations. The BWV preferred view rooms for this week won't last very long either, IMHO.

Early this month, I booked 3 standard view rooms studios, for June 8-15 2003 and I called on July 15 on a Monday. He said at MS that very few rooms left, so I grabbed them up, and I called 10 months 3 weeks out. Since BWV is sold out, it is best (if you know your exact dates), to call ON the 11 month out date. I waited 7 days after that and BARELY got in. I guess that is how popular BWV are, even if a walk to the elevator!!!!! LOL
Good luck on your waitlist, as I would say that it will come through. I guess DVC is popular, but I just booked a on site hotel (Disney) thru CRO, and there is PLENTY of rooms. By the way, the time we booked these rooms? At the Thanksgiving week Wed-Sun. So, plenty of rooms at WDW, just not at DVC rooms! Weird isn't it? OR is it?.......

I was too nervous thinking of being on the waitlist for the whole trip, so I called back and booked the 1st 4 days of our trip in a preferred view but if standard view opens up they will switch it to that and cancel the preferred. I figured at least we will have a room for the first 4 nights! I'm planning to add 2 days on at the 7 month window (using my HH points) IF I can get them!
Thanks for the input, suggestions, and comments. I feel much better now.

I can understand your shock but I think it will work out. It seems as if people are booking their favorite times right at the 11 month mark and then deciding later what they will actually do. Lots of things happen in families that will probably cause shifting to take place. Some will be invited to a wedding, graduation, etc. that will change their plans. Others will switch to a different resort at the 7 month mark. Booking a back-up plan and then "waiting" is the way to go.

Just an idea but maybe the renovation of the standard view rooms is scheduled for next summer, so some are out of service? They were doing the quiet pool rooms when we were there last December, it seems like they were working on them for some time. In May, they had half of the main pool rooms out of service, they still have to do the other half. Just an idea.

You could be right. I bet they won't even start on the standard view rooms until at least January, 2003.

BWVDenise - Good luck with the waitlist. It's really hard to be on it, but there is still lots of time left for it to work. (I'd have booked the preferred view too, as a back up). As PamOKW said, people's plans often change. I'm betting you'll get your standard view. Good luck!

BWVDenise...I notice in an earlier post you said that you emailed for your reservations. I don't like to do that...it gives Member Services too much leeway on what they give ( you said it took them a week to get back to you. ) I always call.
