I have never stayed at BWV before and have a 2 br standard view reserved. I don't know the layout at all...I am not really picky.

There will be 8 of us ranging from 24 to 68. Everyone is spry so access is not a problem.

DD's fiance loves to swim so we would like to be fairly close to the main pool.

DH loves to people watch so it would be nice to have "busy" view if possible. Not necessarily a park or boardwalk view....

We plan on using the buses while there (or walking to MGM and Epcot) so a location with easy access to the bus stop would be great - without having to breathe fumes from our balcony.

Taking all this into account, any suggestions for a great standard view location?

The standard views are along the front driveway, which can be busy with cars coming and going. The rooms close to the elevators would be closest to the pool & the entrance, not near the busses. The ones farther down the driveway by the pond are quite a distance from the elevator but there are steps for quick access to the bus stop from there. I like that area because it is more quiet, I also prefer an upper floor. First floor rooms would give you quicker access to the pool & bus stop but would probably be noiser with cars and busses on the driveway.

Garden/Pool would face either of the 2 pools or gardens on either end of the building (near Swan/Dolphin or near the valet lot).

We just had a standard 2BR at the end of the hallway facing the tennis courts with a view of the Tower of Terror. It was the best Standard view we've ever had. It had a great view, quick access to the busses as DebbieB describes but also had the stairway right across from the room that would take you down to the quiet pool and Community Hall.

How far is the great standard room from the lobby area? Is there a food court type place? Where do you get mugs refilled?

BWV do not have a food court although there are a lot of great places to eat out on the boardwalk. I'm not sure about refillable mugs. Since you will have a kitchen ,it is much cheaper to just stock up with soda at the store and throw it in the frig. That is one of the great things about a villa! Have fun - you will love the Boardwalk!

I believe they have the refillable mugs at the bakery on the boardwalk.

Here is a map of the resort, I should have posted this earlier:

The Villas are on the right side. The standard views are towards the center of the map, facing the driveway from the entrance to the pond. The bus stop is "U".

There is a refillable mug available from the bakery on the boardwalk: Seashore Sweets. I am not sure of the specifics on price and if refills are free or at a reduced price. I know you can get refills at the main pool bar and Seashore Sweets. We always have our own beverages in the villa so we have never gotten a refillable mug.

My favorite standard view location is also down by the tennis courts. For standard pts these rooms are great! It is a walk from the elevators but is well worth it. It is very quiet plus you have a view of some of the higher fireworks from both Illuminations and Fantasmic, a view of the pond, the Friendship boats going to MGM and TOT! We also use the back stairways from these rooms and it is very convenient to get to the back pathway leading to MGM, the pool etc.
