Who has been to the BWV in January? DH and I are planning a mid-January trip and I am curious what the weather will be like...is it typically too cold to swim? I remember my Feb trip was a little chilly on some days. Also...is attendance better than most months? This is going to be our longst stay yet--13 days--and I want it to be perfect!! Thanks for the input--as always!!

Hey Rima,

We were at BWV from the 3rd thru the 10th this year. Weather is a total toss-up! (just what you wanted to hear!) It was chilly for the most part, a coupla days in the 70's, pouring rain one afternoon (while we were on the Jungle Trek at AK, nowhere to hide!) But, I heard the next week stayed in the 70's almost every day! I did go swimming one day at Luna Park and it was fine. It was a bit nippy and overcast but I pretty much had the whole pool (and hot tub) to myself!

As far as crowds go, you should be just fine. We noticed more people during the first few days (still 1st week of Jan.) and many less on the end of our trip. I'm sure this was a combo of new years and the Marathon. If you're there for 13 days you should be in heaven! Check to see if MLK weekend is during your stay. Take advantage of an E-ride night (but rest up, we bought tickets for our last night and were too pooped to go by that time, our friends went and had a great time though!)

My only regret about this last trip was that I wanted it to be perfect (we took some newbies) and ended up frustrated at times. Just relax and enjoy whatever comes your way!

Have a great time!!!!

Hi Craig! Thanks for responding...well--that makes sense to me. February was just as unpredictable and that's okay...I will just have to be prepared for it. I have never stayed at the BWV so this will be a great treat for me. Yes, I love e-night too and 13 days will be heaven!! I am glad that you enjoyed your trip for the most part. Can't wait to go back!!!

Myself and DS did a quickie trip this year to BWV from Jan 2-5. It was fabulous! Yes, it was pretty cold some days. We brought layers with us - t shirts, shirts, sweatshirt, light jacket. On the coldest day (it got down to 25 degrees one night) with 3 layers we were fine.

Crowds seemed very light to me. The BWV location was heaven - I'd step out to the Bakery in the morning to snag a couple of goodies to go with breakfast. DS thought it was really cool to go in the heated pool and hot tub late at night then run for the room before he froze! (Yeah, I know, a liitle nuts! Must be his father's side, LOL).:sunny:

We were at BWV the last 3 days of January this year. It was perfect. Weather was great, crowds were small. We walked right on most things, never more than a 5 minute wait. There was a few times when we had the bus all to ourselves. Although we were at OKW the first week of December last year, the park was a little more crowded but we still never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a bus and they were never crowded. Quite different than June when we stood more than set on the busses.

We were there during Superbowl weekend - the weather was beautiful! We were in shorts every day and had some nice pool time. Granted, it wasn't in the high 80's, but it was in the 70's each day. Of course, compare that to last year when it was pretty cool (50-60) and definitely jacket weather at times.

No matter what the weather - it's always perfect at Disney! Just be sure to bring sweaters or sweatshirts, and you won't go too far wrong!

Thanks for your replies everyone. It sounds like January is more and more appealing for a time to go!! I know DH really wants to swim but I think he'd rather have less crowded parks and not so much heat. I remember a trip I took in Feb and it was pretty good but kinda cold. So I guess we'll pack some sweatshirts along with shorts! I appreciate everyone's responses!!! I cannot wait to be back there!! YAHOOO!!!

Not sure what part of January you're going but just wanted to give you a headsup that Martin Luther King weekend can be very crowded. We made the mistake of going to MK on the Saturday afternoon and barely got on any rides at all, even with FastPass. Since my dh was in WDW for only a couple of days on business we didn't have much of a choice and just made the best of it. :D
As for the weather, it was actually really nice. Unlike the year before during mid-January when we froze out butts off. ;) Moral of the story - forget about packing light. Take everything from shorts to mittens (yes, mittens). :D
Have fun! :)

Remember you will be packing for two climates so plan on taking advantage of laundry facilities (even if you aren't in a one bedroom) We are notorious overpackers but knowing we would be doing laundry we removed about half of our stuff before leaving, giving us more room for souvenirs! (Which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it!)

Dw and I were in the BW for a week from Jan 6th -Jan 14th. Weather was mostly cold...too cold for my taste. However, I used the pool every day and even pool hopped to SAB. What I did was get myself in the hot whirlpool and when I got really hot then I'd go tot eh main pool. I really enjoyed this. There were not too many people and most that were there were from England where the cold weather in Florida was warm to them. I enjoyed it very much and I'd say go for it. As for crowds. They were really low and we were able to go to all the attractions we wanted (using fastpass wisely, of course) in about half day. We did not have the need to use early entry. Besides the weather, I'd say January is a really nice month to visit. We will be going again the upcoming Xmas NY through January 3rd. Hope to see you there.
