Hi has anyone stayed in both a one floor and two floor grand villa at BWV? I'm wondering what the floor plan is like for the two floor units. I find it curious that there are more two story units than one story but there is no floor plan...

If you have stayed in both types of units which was your preference and why?

Thanks in advance. pixiedust:

5 one story and 2 two story.

There are five single-story and only two 2-story, so I am not sure where you saw the opposite. I have stayed in both and prefer the single-story to the 2-story. The 2-story's living, dining, kitchen area is not as long as the single story. The area over the entry way and staircase is open, first floor to second floor ceiling. The master bedroom and bath that is downstairs is very similar to the single-story. The first bedroom upstairs, with two queens, has a little balcony area that you can step out onto and it overlooks the living room. All the rooms have balconies for viewing the lake area, including two in the living room/dining room area.

I personally prefer the single-story partly because I would rather not go up and down stairs in a villa, but the more significant issue is that the washer/dryer is at the very end of the hall on the second floor. Thus, the ones likely to be doing laundry, those staying in the master bedroom downstairs, have to go upstairs to do laundry. And the most likely time for them to do laundry while at Disney is late in the evening after the young ones are already in their rooms, but that is a serious problem because that washer/dryer makes quite of bit of noise and sits right next to the door of the second upstairs bedroom where those kids are most likely to be sleeping.

Thanks everyone. I thought there were more two story units, I thought I read that somewhere in the past few days. Glad I'm wrong. Thanks Drusba, I have rented a one story before and it is what I prefer. I had to wait list for my last day this morning. I did on-line reservation, all my dates where there but the system timed out on me so I had to start again. When I did the last day was no longer available so I wait listed for the last day. They do have two story units available but with young children I didn't think that would be the best choice.

Questions to those in the know, today was the first day I could reserve 1/25/20 and I had to wait list this morning for that day. What do you think my chances are? I plan to stalk as much as possible but I'm hoping the system will work and my waitlist will come through...

I am not sure what went wrong but if you reserved Jan 19 through 24, 2020, this morning at 8 a.m. or after, you should have also been able to reserve the night of Jan 25. It should not have been blocked out for your trip because you got Jan 19 through 24 and no one else could possibly reserve Jan 25 in your GV with the 11 month window. I just looked at the online reservation system and it shows Jan 25 is open for a BWV GV, in fact it shows all of Jan 19 through 25 still open, so you may want to call MS and add it.

Hi, I did call MS this morning and they confirmed that the 25th was not open. Can you tell me if all the one floor GVs are considered accessible units or am I wrong about that? That is a question I asked MS and the lady I spoke to said all the one story units are accessible units. I was requesting an accessible unit because I'm under the belief that is what I had to do to insure getting a one floor unit.

The one-story BWV GV's I have been in were not accessible units. If there is one, it would likely be one at most and that would undoubtedly be a single-story. Even if there is just one, there is no way you could get the accessible unit Jan 19 through 24 and not get it for Jan 25, with one exception, there is some planned shut down for that unit beginning Jan 25, 2020, such as for refurbishment, and therefore it will not be possible to get it at all, even on waitlist, for that date. Otherwise, something is wrong with the system because it is impossible for anyone else to have gotten that room for Jan 25 if you have Jan 19 through 24.

Thank you so much Drusba. I just went in and took off the accessible request from my already booked reservation and I was able to add the 25th. I then called member services and made my request for a one story unit explaining why it is needed. The person I spoke with verified there is only one accessible GV, she entered my request and told me I should call resort 10 days prior to our scheduled date of arrival to make my request again giving the reasons why the one story unit is needed. Of course there is no guarantee that my request will be filled. Keeping my fingers crossed. :worship:pixiedust:

There’s at least me accessible BWV GV. It’s located on the 3rd floor, end closest to the elevator (above the Screen Door General Store). Two of the three bathrooms have roll-in showers. The kitchen has lower counters, an accessible sink and the microwave is on the counter instead of above the range.

Thank You - And so then it looks like they are all above the Disney’s Character Carnival and Thimbles & Threads store areas.

XX47 are above the Screen Door General Store.

XX37 and 5035 are above Thimbles & Threads
