I'm planning far ahead and wondering if anybody has some experience getting a grand villa in December. I'm not looking to go at Christmas, rather the slower time between Thanksgiving and the first 2 weeks in December.

It's 558 points for a week at that time of year so I'll have to bank my 06 points to use in my (December) 07 use year and borrow a few from 08.

I can book 11 months out since BWV is my home resort for those points...just wondering what kind of experiences you've had in availability. I know there aren't that many grand villas and I don't know what the demand is like for them that early in December.

Fingers crossed already! I have 2 years to plan :)

This has nothing to do with your post, but I saw that you are already planning something for 07. I graduate in May 07, so if people are already planning WDW trips for then, it can't be but so much longer!

I think you might be mistaken about that time of year being slow. Lots of DVCers go during that time of year since the points are low and the Christmas season is in full swing.

That said though, calling day by day, I am sure you could get your grand villa at the 11 month window.

There are only 7 Boardwalk Grand Villas and they are popular. The "slower" time you mention is actually a very ppular DVC time so mark on your calendar 11 months to the day and start calling right at 8:59 A.M. and do day by day calling. Good luck. We stayed in a GV last Thaksgiving and it was wonderful.

When you say day by day do you mean booking a day at a time and then when you are doing making it all one reservation?

yes - that way you dont have to wait until the check out date to call and try to get a whole week. You call daily, from the first day you are eligible to call and each day add another day to your ressie. At the end of the week, you have the whole thing. If you wait til the end, someone else might swoop in there and get some or all of your days.

Definitely call day by day. I was able to get a GV, at OKW, for our upcoming early December trip, by calling day by day.

From what I hear, they are reallllly nice! I can't wait! :)

According to MS....This is the busiest time of the year for DVC'ers. Last year, we cancelled a Xmas vacation and had an awful time getting availability for this week. We ended up waitlisting and a 2 bedroom at OKW came through.

I am not sure if you will be able to get a grand villa....It was quite busy when we were there.

Thanks for all the help. At least I have time on my side for now! :) About 22 months before I need to do anything!

Because the points are cheapest and the limited availability, this is one of the toughtest times to reserve a GV. We have one from December 4-11. We reserved day by day at 11 months, and on one of the mornings they told me that I was reserving the last available unit.
