We are planning a two week no park visit. Are we better off at SSR or BWV? We love Beaches and Cream and Cape May. Beaches and Cream is one of the only places on property dd can get ice cream due to allergies.

Does BWV still have a community hall. What's their gym like?

We would be getting a 2 br at either resort.

SSR has the walk to Disney springs but BWV has Crescent Lake with all its amenities. Which is best?

SSR - due to transportation. Walk over to Disney Springs and then grab a bus to any resort. Then take advantage of all that the resorts have to offer whether it be a meal or a drink or perhaps an afternoon snack (ice cream), swimming (at those to which you can pool-hop), evening entertainment (BWV) or watching fireworks (TOTWL).

Thanks! I think I'm getting seduced by the BWV renovation! We do love SSR though.

BWV wouldn't be bad and you could still catch fireworks from outside the parks. SSR has the plus of DS, golf and a larger community hall as well as nice walking around the resort. But I think my choice for a non-park stay would be AKV. Once VWL is complete that would also come back on my list.

We were actually booked at AKL. That's where we always stay. I thought it wouldn't be as good for a no park trip because it would be hard to get to other resorts. SSR is probably best as we can get to lots of restaurants, easy transport elsewhere and we have bowling, the movies, Lego store etc. Will probably cancel BWV. Maybe we will stay there in January 2018.

BWV. Although it's really what you prefer. For us, it would be BWV and not even remotely close. As for transportation, don't forget that you can easily walk to the front of DHS from BWV and get a bus anywhere just easily as walking to DS from SSR (probably even closer unless you can get Congress Park at SSR).

Brilliant! You are thinking outside the box for me! I really love BWV. Never stayed there but we walked through the model refurbished villa in January and I fell in love. I think I will splurge and keep our two bedroom.

We aren't doing parks next year as we just don't feel the value is there for an annual pass with all the work at HS and so much running at half capacity. We are holding out for 2018 to renew our APs. Having said that I still want the trip to be special. Thanks for your comment!

No worries! The refurbished rooms at BWV really are great, such a massive upgrade. You're gonna absolutely love staying there. What view do you have booked?

We are booked in a pool view/garden view. I need guidance on room requests. I'm thinking near the quiet pool. Don't mind long hallways.

When we stayed last month they had a photo machine in the community hall of BWV. It has many different border options and will print out a small set of pictures just like a photo booth. There was no cost and it also linked to your photopass.

That sounds like fun. Thank you!

Yea we enjoy that area. You can also probably see some of the Star Wars fireworks show from that side now if you're high enough. Check out this thread for some guidance on room locations http://www.disboards.com/threads/courtesy-of-shamus-bwv-villa-locations-by-view.2931467/

Thanks for this. So helpful.

For those who are suggesting staying at SSR and catching a bus at DS to any resort, I'd like to add a bit of information based upon my opinion. First off, let me say, I'm in my 50's and have a recurring knee and ankle issues, so I base my opinion considering walking can really cause some discomfort for me. But I would hesitate to walk from SSR all the way to the new bus area at DS. I felt like it was a haul from the Marketplace area. We were there in late June and went from the bus area to Ragland Road for dinner. Then walked on to the Marketplace area for a little shopping. Once we were tired of walking/shopping, we headed toward the busses. Wow - was it a long trip to the busses. Then when we got to the busses, it was a long trip to get to our bus. Maybe I was just overwhelmed after having been in a park part of the day, then coming to DS, but I felt like I walked more that night than a full day in a park. I honestly can't imagine walking from SSR over to the Marketplace then on to the busses to get to another resort unless I was fit and not traveling with younger kids. There is no longer a bus area at it's previous place in the Marketplace.

Your right about it being a long walk from the Marketplace to the new bus area. But there is also a water taxi that runs from the Marketplace - near the walkway from SSR - to the Landing and then on to the West Side. The Landing boat dock would be much closer to the new bus depot.

Thank you for this. I didn't realise the marketplace bus terminal is gone. I used to walk from SSR to Disney Springs last December with ease. That bus depot was close for me. Knowing it is gone makes me settled in my BWV decision even more.

Thanks for that information. I didn't think about that. If I stay at SSR or spend time at DS, I will certainly keep that in mind.
