BWV experts-standard view?

If I get a standard view room at BWV--does that mean the view will likely be parking lot? I just read another thread where the person was asking about BW view or preferred view & a lot of posters said that if they could not get bw view they would go standard & not pay extra points for preferred view which is "garden", canal or pool view. SO I was trying to figure out what is left!! It will be the first time staying at BWV (we are new to DVC) & I booked a "preferred view" but after reading the posts, am thinking I may try to get a standard view to save points, but not sure if I want parking lot?! (I also know it is difficult to get standard, but just thinkin ahead!) Thanks for any input!! Deb

it is the parking lot, and the roadway entrance to BW. more the roadway entrance.

so your views besides the road - are gardens plus the BWI.

I got the little stream across from valet parking last time - some of the villa down from me are considered preferred.... If I got one of them I would be mad.

Because standard views aren't bad, and some of the preferred views are just as bad, I think "saving points" is part "saving points" and part "lowering risk."

There are some great preferred views - but there are some that are right next to the standard view rooms. Likewise some of them are right next to the BWView rooms. The problem being, you don't know what you will get.

Which, honestly, is no different from most other resorts. You can end up looking at the road at BCV or OKW, having the dumpster at VWL and pay the same number of points as the "best view" at those resorts. The difference is that with the point differentiation at BWV, some people feel cheated.
