Has anyone shipped a package to BWV recently? I have been reading about convention resorts charging $5 to $20 for packages shipped to resorts. I was planning on ordering water from costco. Has anyone walked over to the Hess station near the boardwalk and picked up groceries? We will not have a car as we are taking ME. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hess is the cheapest/closest place around. The BWV delivery fees have been reported to be inconsistent. The official notice from Disney states that there will be a charge so be safe and expect it.

What do they sell at the Hess station, is there a convenience store inside? I have driven by a million times and have never paid attention! We are staying at the BWV next month.

The walk from the front of the BWV to the Hess station is a lot longer than it looks, especially when lugging heavy objects back. My DH will bring a piece of rolling luggage. LOL

It's like a 7 11. Soda, snack food, beer.

I just want to let everyone know that we ordered water from costco and it arrived 2 days late, because they forgot to ship it. We were also charged $20 by the Boardwalk for the delivery and then it took 2 hours for Bell services to deliver. We ended up with an extra case so we found a family arriving and gave it to them. Next time we will definitely order from a grocery service as it would have been cheaper.

The inconsistencies with BWV and delivery charges is really quite ridiculous. We were there last month, and although told we would be subject to a $5.00 per package delivery charge (told this by phone when delivery department called to schedule delivery), we were not. We were out when they called and left message, so the front desk delivered our packages as the delivery department had closed for the night.

I have read $5.00, $10.00 and $20.00 per package charges, as well as some guests are being charged, and others are not.

Disney needs to implement a consistent delivery fee policy across the board, as it's getting quite confusing to figure this all out.

I didn't know about the Hess store - can anyone tell me exactly where it is? Is it cheaper than purchasing water, drinks, etc. at BWV?

It is right across the road from the entrance to the resort. We stopped there to get a case of water. It was $4.99 for 24 bottles. To me, well worth not messing with a delivery service.

We did have a car but I think you could do the walk if you had someone who is okay with carrying things. It is a bit of a walk, but not much farther than the self park lot I had to park in one night.

Pretty much most things you can think of (LOL !) - it is more than just beverages, pretzels & chips. Water, soda, juice, milk, snacks, individual ice cream ( Popsicles, Good Humor, etc. ), cookies, donut/danish/muffin items, sandwiches & they have hot grill-type items like burgers & hot dogs that we have often seen CMs purchasing.

buzz makes a good point about lugging heavy stuff.....and it is also safer to cross at the traffic signal on Buena Vista Drive then at Boardwalk's entrance road. Sometimes they have a special on 20 + ounce bottles of water, like 3 bottles for $3 if you don't want to deal with a case. If you're picking up alot of items maybe check out what a cab from BW & back would cost....could possibly still amount to a savings over buying in resort store or shipping items.

Good luck on your planning :goodvibes

I completely agree. They should be able to tell us if they're for package delivery by weight, by size, by number of packages...

And I think it's unfair that people are only charged if their resort has a convention center attached. If I'm not going down for a convention, then I don't care if the convention facilities are there or not. Why penalize me for choosing the Beach Club over the Polynesian?

Convention resorts charge because Disney outsourced to IKON Business Solutions and they are the ones charging us for delivery. If you don't like the policy, send a email to the following:

dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Hmmm...? I though all package delivery was outsourced to IKON. Based on your reply, you seem to by implying it was just convention resorts that outsourced. If so, why would that be?

More info would be great, as I'm planning on emailing as well, but I need all pertinent info at hand before I do that.

Thanks, Tiger :)

IKON only does the convention locations, all delivery, crates, boxes, stuff for trade shows etc. They also do the AV, and business support office items like preparing reports and copies for meetings and conventions. All inbound packages are delivered to the convention warehouses where they are processed and routed to the meeting center or the resort. They charge for this service.

Non convention center resorts, inbound packages are handled by Bell Services and there currently isn't a charge for inbound packages. Disney does state that all outbound packages from everywhere will have a service charge.
