Is there a Community Hall at BWV? And if so, what is there? Thanks!

Yes there is. It is located by the quiet pool on the Villa side of the resort.

It's also where you go to get the movies. They have a pamphlet describing their current activities. I took one in May and sent it to the family we're going with in August, so they could get an idea of what's available as far as activities. They had some craft classes for kids. If you are going after we are, I could get a current one and send it to you if you PM your particulars.
There are also free games for kids use, it lookes like a fun place for kids.

A few years ago, when my DD was 3, we spent a lovely afternoon at BWV's Community Hall. It was kind of an overcast day and there were about 4 other kids there. A CM was playing Disney bingo with anyone who wanted to play and giving out free ice cream as a prize to the kids that won. There were plenty of pictures to color and baskets of markers and crayons. There's also a ping pong table and some video games (Playstation, I think). My youngest DD was only 1 1/2 at the time and she had great fun playing with the lego table.

In addition to movies that you can bring back to your room, they have a TV there and some books.

Thanks! We are going at the end of August and I am thinking Community Hall may provide much needed relief from the heat! :sunny:

My whole family loves community hall for all of the activities. Make sure you bring your room key. It is only for members (I think) who are staying at BWV. You will be asked to show your key for movies, life vests, and maybe other things too.. I was at Luna Park pool and had the room key. My DW had to come get my key to show to the community hall staff.

Real nice people. Some video games, air hockey, ping pong, crafts. Our kids love it.

This past weekend I stopped by and it was PACKED! tons of kids and CMs at the craft table, lots of teens playing air hockey, people watching movies, etc etc.

Seems like it is definitely well utilized, and there were at least 5 CMs around so well staffed

Actually, I believe any DVC member can use the hall and the life vests. We pool hopped while staying at OKW once and only had to be DVC members to get the vests.

That's a great idea! I'm going at the end of August and I recently asked on another thread for some indoor, air-conditioned activities for a solo. Do they have Goofy Bingo there? Anyone have any ideas of what a single adult (sort of) might do there? Any jigsaw puzzles? Internet so I can visit the DIS boards?

Simba's Mom, I went to check out a question for another member on these boards. It was mid-afternoon on a HOT but not humid day.

Personally, I couldn't get out of there fast enough - I love kids, but it was loud and crowded. All I could think of would be to plunk yourself down at the craft table and join the kids - you may get a few odd looks, but the CM's were reallly enjoying themselves!! :teeth:

Of couse, when it's not as busy it may be more enjoyable - I know that at OKW it was deserted earlier this year. I also recommend the Solarium at BCV for a nice deserted place to enjoy yourself. Or go have a drink and listen to the radio plays from the 1930's in the lounge at BWV....

Hope that helps, to each his/her own!!

Grest ideas! Thanks so much for your suggestions. I forgot about the radio shows in the lounge.

Want me to scout out a few more? I'll be back at WDW this weekend again and need to keep myself occupied while NOT visiting the parks - it was too crowded except for Epcot last weekend............

:)

On a fairly recent stay at Boardwalk, I could barely get my two young teen sons OUT of Community Hall...having been to the parks plenty of times, they seemed to be very content to hang out at Community Hall and play video games, ping-pong, etc. No crowds when they were there...it was in March. Plus I enjoyed the (relatively) quiet pool which is adjacent.

My dd, almost 12, loves it in there. She can't wait to go back in '06 with her friend for her 13th b-day and be allowed to 'hang' there without mom looking over her shoulder.

A request for anyone that might be down there in the near future....when we were there last month, I noticed that they had painted the walls a nice green. I loved the color and was going to ask what it was called, but of course, forgot. If anyone is there, could you ask what the paint color is and post here when you get back? I'm not painting until it cools off a bit, so no big rush!! Thanks.

This made me laugh! I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way! One time my kids got so annoyed when they realized I was video taping the moldings in the Solarium at Beach Club and totally ignoring them as they danced about! :cool1:

Interior. The walls used to be a gold and green stripe, if I remember correctly. When we were there in June they were painted a 'sage green' type color. So peaceful....almost made me forget the air hockey game going on!!! Thanks.

That would be a terrific help, if you're not too busy scouting paint! I'll be either at BWV or BCV(scheduled at BWV, but on the waiting list over at BCV), so I'm looking for anyplace indoors in that area. The lobby area at WL would be a great place to "camp out" for a while, but I'm afraid I'd wilt just getting over there!

Well, they told me that it wasn't the strangest question they have heard! :goodvibes

The CM called Engineering, and while they could tell her that it's 'moss green' they don't have a brand (I doubt that they use only Home Depot Disney paint!)

Sorry, I failed that homework assignment....... :guilty:
