BWV/BCV or POR RR?

Already planning our next visit to Disney for Feb. 2018 (this is what I do to beat the winter blahs). Last Feb. and this Feb. we booked DVC through a rental store with stays at BCV and BWV respectfully. We love the Boardwalk area. However, I have really been wanting to stay at POR RR with my daughter, who will be 5 next February. I think she'd love the theme and I have fond memories of POR as a kid (many years ago!!) and want to go back. The catch is the cost of a POR RR during our travel time usually is the equivalent of staying at BCV/BWV, which makes it hard to justify.
Should I go POR RR next year or go with the rental again? Thanks for any perspectives!

To me, part of the magic of Disney is how much variety it offers. I would choose the POR RR in your situation. Your daughter will only be little for so long and may not be in awe of a RR in future years like she would be at 5. Do it now and make some memories! BCV and BWV will always be there for future trips. POR is also a lovely resort and I doubt you'll be disappointed. Even if you miss the convenience of walking to the parks, I think your daughter's delight at the theming will make up for it :)

Personally, there is no way I would spend the same amount on POR RR and BCV/BWV. POR is lovely and the RR is super cute, but the resort and amenities don't compare, IMHO. Have you considered a split stay? When we stayed in a RR, the charm sort of wore off after the second night. Maybe 2 nights in POR RR and the rest at BCV or BWV?

Our first trip my daughter was 5, and we did POR RR... It was so magical, and she was the perfect age for it. She LOOOOVED the fireworks in the headboard, and did not bore of them. I have a video of our last night there, she in her Minnie Mouse nightgown, hitting the button over & over & doing somersaults on the bed just giggling & laughing. She also loved the mansion pools (she still does... she doesn't want to stay deluxe on our next trip but go back to the mansion pools).

I agree with a PP that there is such a small window of time when they are young enough to find the magic in those things. The deluxe will always be there.

Are you sure the prices are usually the same for you? I wonder if you got an unusual deal on a Villa. I would check the prices again (past year available discounts). You might find out that the price difference is bigger than you thought and then you'll have a financial reason to stay at POR. Anyway, planning is half the fun IMO.

No comparison to me. We love the Boardwalk area more than any other, and walking to Epcot is so convenient.

POR - boat to Disney Springs. I don't like to shop, so that has no draw.

I would go with the Deluxe over moderate if it's the same price, no questions. Plus it is a better area.

Actually we got a better deal this year on BWV looking at the current POR RR rooms for the same date. Saved about 200.00. We rented points in advance through one of the rental companies. Thanks for all the feedback!
