Just got back on 12/23/05 from our DVC vacation (BWV was for 12/16 & 12/17 and SSR was for 12/18 to 12/23) and wanted to make the following comment. We checked into our 2 bedroom at BWV on 12/16 at around 8:30 PM the CM who checked us in, Ana, was WONDERFUL! The room was ready and their were no noted problems with the check-in process. When we got to our villa #3109 after walking what seems like FOREVER...well let's just say I was NOT impressed. The first thing that I noticed was the curtain rod holder for the blinds in the living area was falling of the wall. The place was clean persay but not CLEAN...I'm pretty picky. The shower glass door was dirty and their was some mildew in the grout of the tiles, the refridgerator door was dirty, and yes hairs on the bathroom floor. I called down and told the desk of the issues so that they could take care of them for the next guests that will occupy this room and IMMEDIATELY informed them that I will be checking out first thing the morning and going to SSR 1 day earlier if their was anything available. I was very pleased when I was taken care of right away and my reservation at SSR was changed for us to check in the next morning! When we got to SSR everything was ready and we were given a 2 bedroom lock-ooff in the SPRINGS villas # 4214 and #4216. These were VERY clean and had a beautiful view! I LOVE SSR and I am very happy that it's our "HOME" resort!!!

**No flames please....just my own observation!**

I'm sorry to hear about your BWV stay, but I'm not surprised.Thats our home resort and have been less then impressed with the housekeeping there. My DW and I enter a room now with no expectations and hope for the best.I'm not saying were real picky or call downstairs for every little thing but hairs in the bathroom always get me.I just make a list now and leave it for housekeeping when I check out(thats if my wife doesnt make the room spotless)

It's always a bit of a mystery to me how the experiences at the same resort and during the same time frame can vary so much.

We just returned from a stay at the BWV 12/2/ - 12/10. Our room was in excellent condition - I looked very hard one morning for something I could report as "unacceptable" (due to some reports here on the DIS), but found nothing.

FWIW, we have stayed at the BWV at least annually since 1998. We've never found hair in the bathroom, mold or anything more than a little wear on the furnishings (like maybe a chip in the coffee table or a remote that needed new batteries).

Sorry to hear that others have not had the same experience.

Best wishes -

Oh, I know.....but they can be. I once had someone on these boards (fairly recently), ask me if we went to the same wdw parks as they did because we went during the same timeframe and had different experiences. I've read TR's about our home resort (OKW) that have been less-than-favorable, but we've always had the best experiences there. It might be half perception/expectations and half luck-of-the-draw as far as getting into a villa that is not in tip-top shape or CM's having an "off" day whatever. I believe anything is possible. :flower:
Glad you had a nice trip JerJan :wizard:

I couldn't agree more...LOL!!! :rotfl2: It's like are we really talking about the same place here?! :confused3 Regardless we had a great trip and it was a wonderful lead-in to a GREAT CHRISTMAS!

Not all the rooms are cleaned by the same person, so it is quite possible that the room conditions would vary. Plus, unless the person who occupied the room prior to you reports any previous issues they more than likely will not be fixed.

We stayed at Boardwalk in December 04 for the first time. We walked to our room per the front desk instructions and it took a long time. Only to find the next day that walking through the courtyard cut the walk down about 75%.

Our room was clean and wonderful evn though I had heard some bad reports. I will gladly stay there again.

Now Saratoga! I agree 100% it is a wonderful resort in every detail.

Sorry about your bad night but glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay.

I just posted a detailed report on our BWV stay Dec. 17-23 and our room was in perfect condition. We also were checked in by Ana and she was just wonderful.

There's no excuse for BWV rooms - or any other Disney rooms - not being in tip top shape. However, I think some of the disparity between the quality of your room at BWV and the quality of your room at SSR probably stems from the fact that your room at SSR is so much newer. In some sections of SSR, you could be one of the first people to stay in a particular room.

As far as some people staying at a particular resort and having problems with the room and some people having an immaculate room at the same resort, I think it is the luck of the draw. All rooms will not be identical. Some will have more wear than others. Some will have been cleaned better than others. The only thing we can do is what the OP did - alert management to the problems immediately. That will make things better for you as well as the people who use the room after you. We can also all so our part to take care of the rooms and not introduce any new damage.

I have never had a room that did not meet my standards, and I am a fairly particular housekeeper, so my standards are pretty high.

I have had rooms where the furniture was showing some minor wear and tear, but that is to be expected when you have units that see as much activity as the Disney units do. As far as dirty, though, I've never had a room that I would consider dirty. If I did, I'd call housekeeping right away and ask them to rectify it.

We just back from a week at SSR. (home resort BCV) I will admit that they were very helpful with check-in and obtaining a room near the main building for an elderly family member who had difficulty walking. However, I was very disappointed with SSR. I do not like having the room door directly to the outside. This makes me feel like I am in a motel and not very secure. My room was not very clean, but with a little dusting it worked out fine. However, I was very disappointed with the bus service to the parks. We waited almost every time for at least 35-40 minutes for bus service while watching the other resorts get at least 2 busses. Three times we ran for the bus in the morning, being very obvious that we wanted the bus, and only once did the driver wait. We knew that it would be at least 30 minutes till the next one arrived. I admit I enjoy the EPCOT resorts so much better for the convenience, but it was a last minute trip and we were thankful to find a 2BR anywhere

Our first and only stay at the BWV was the first summer it had opened. We were one of the first people to stay in the room. You could still smell the fresh paint! We had the worst housekeeping ever that year, and we were cash paying guests with daily housekeeping. We complained, but it did little good. I even left a cracker under the table to see if they would pick it up, but it was there the entire week. Between that, the endless hallways, the extremely slow boat service, and that freaky clown slide, we were turned off from BWV and haven't stayed there since. We have since stayed at all the other DVC resorts more than once and have always had very good housekeeping. This was the only place we have ever had a problem. Some day we'll give them another try, but for now we prefer OKW, SSR, and occasionally BCV for SAB.
