BWV and an elevator question

My wife and I are visiting this summer with her parents, and we're booked for a 1 BR (us) and a studio (them) at the Board Walk Villas. We've requested that my in-laws' room be relatively close to the elevators; I've heard it is a looooong hike for just one set of elevators, and we want to lessen the walking for them. (Face it: they will be doing a lot of that already -- it's Disney World!)

My question: what sort of views do you get near the elevators??

Could be a standard view (parking lot) or preferred view (Luna Park pool).

The elevators are near the front of the resort, just past the small mercantile store. They're near the entrance to the pool, thus the Preferred views will be of the pool, not the BW.

The standard views are more up the road from the parking lot which will be in more of a distance. I'd call the standard view rooms near the elevator to be more of a view of the long driveway, and the convention center, and the bus stop, with the parking lot further in the distance.

The Village Green view rooms are also very close to the elevators.

We had a wonderful studio with a view of the Boardwalk on the Village Green, right above Muscles and Bustles. It was about 3 doors down from the elevators. Terrific room!!!

I always wonder what people consider close to the elevators. Is it 3-4 rooms away, 7-8 rooms? For me, anything that is inside of 10 rooms is close, imho.

My room last Nov was 221 steps from the elevators!!! I'm 5'8" so my steps are pretty good size. I think our room was third from the end of the bldg..you know..the one with the stairway to the rear door that exits at the MGM walkway!!! That room was a walk and a half!!!

Goofy...last time we stayed at BVW we had the last room...it was great! We asked for that, those rooms are so much quieter than the ones near the elevators. It might be 221 steps further from Epcot, but it's 221 steps closer to MGM.

I was thinking the same thing. If you don't mind walking a bit and enjoy MGM, then being closer to MGM is great.

I keep seeing posts from folks about the long walks in BWV and I don't get the problem when compared to BCV (or any other DVC resort for that matter).

OK, we just got back from a stay at BCV, we had room 477, and I don't see why BWV is singled out, BCV has walks that are just as bad. Just to get to the elevators from the lobby at BVC is a fairly good hike and you have to go outside to get to them. If you want to use the quiet pool at BCV then it's a fairly quick trip, but if you want to use SAB IMHO that trip has got to be longer then the trip to Luna park from anywhere in BWV. Yes, the BWV elevators can be a trip but once you get to them you're close to the pool/lobby/shops. At BCV the elevators are closer to the rooms but that's only half the walk, it's then a good hike to anywhere else. Just my two cents.

I agree. The VWL are a LOOOONNNNNGGGG way from Roaring Forks and their theme pool. The farther rooms at OKW and SSR are far away from their Theme Pools and restaurants.

The Villas themselves at BWV have some long hallways - the other resorts chop up your long trip in stages.
