Hello. Can anyone suggest what area I should request for a 2 bed standard at BWV? Have 5 kids so the most convienient to pools/transportation probably good. On a different post I had a recommendation from another poster. (DebBill - I think it was.) It sounded good but now I can't track down the post! TIA!
While I am at it perhaps I could use a bit more advice from the veterans....Window for booking at BWV is not for a few more days. Have current ressie for same time at THV. What do you think is safer: Keeping THV ressie until the day my window opens and calling to book then or calling today and starting the BWV ressie early and rolling it for a few days? Again..thanks!

If you want shortest trip to main pool, lobby and bus stop, you would request close to elevator or close to lobby. If you want to be able to see the top of the fireworks at Epcot you would request away from the elevator looking across to the bus stop and high floor but then you will not have short distance to lobby or pool or bus stop.

Sep is a slow reserving month but BWV standard can go quickly at 7 month window almost any time of year if there are any openings at 7 months out. Be aware that a 2BR standard for Sep 13, exactly 7 months from today, became fully booked at 4 minutes after 8 eastern time this morning, meaning anything left at 7 month window was taken by those doing on-line reserving at exactly 8 a.m. and anyone calling at 9 a.m. will be out of luck.

Thanks! I recognize your user name...maybe it was you who gave me the advice before and that was why I couldn't find it again...lookin for wrong user name! hmm...guess I have some thinking to do!

I would wait until the 7 month mark to try for BWV Standard rather than trying to walk a reservation. What if you end up missing one date in the middle for some reason? I'd feel better going for the whole thing at one time. If you have enough points, I'd definitely book BWV on-line and then cancel THV afterwards.

The only caveat I'd add is that the viewing of the top of fireworks at EPCOT is becoming more challenging each year at BWV Standard View rooms due to the trees that continue to grow in front of the balconies. I'd say about 50% of the rooms won't have a decent view, as you can see from the photo below.

can you use the steps?

if you can then about as far away from the lobby as possible - there is a steam near the hc parking/valet - this is also near the tennis court.

you can walk down the steps (unless you are on the first floor) - easily in this area. one of the exit is also close to the community pool - which you shortcut to the main pool.

most of these exits when they get to the first floor have two exits - one goes outside (community pool for this one) - the other stays inside - and after a little walking goes to the backdoor of BWV - the buses are located across the street. these are standard views.

called today. couldnt get the standard view for the week so i am waitlisted. they had it for days here and there but that wouldnt work. oh well. will be at akv standard 2 bed instead. points are the same so that atleast would make it easy if i did actually get the other one. it is still disney so i cant really be too sad...just a bit!

I just wanted to mention that getting a 2 bedroom standard is not easy to get at the 7 month window. One of the biggest reasons is because BWV 2 bedrooms are all lock offs -- meaning they are all 1 bedrooms and 1 studio to make the 2 bedrooms. Often the standard studios go very quickly, but the 1 bedroom standards don't go that quickly and often are available at the 7 months window. Without the availability of that standard studio, the 2 bedroom can't happen. I actually checked your dates online this morning and as I suspected, that is exactly what happened. The studio is not available for the entire time, but the 1 bedroom was, so no 2 bedroom.

Because of how hard it is to get the standard rooms, I added points at BWV to be able to book the standard rooms. Even being a BWV owner, I could not book a standard studio at the 10 month 3 week window after one of my kids announced she wanted to go with us in late October -- 1 week after the 11 month window openned. Her room has been waitlisted for 3 months now and the 7 month window hasn't even openned yet.

I truly believe that getting a standard room at BWV at the 7 month window involves luck and pixie dust. Let's hope you get your waitlist!!

How do you check dates online? Is that throught the DVC member site?

Yes, you just go into the DVC website and search for a room like you're making a room reservation. It give you everything that's available if you're within the 7 month window. If you are before the 7 month window, you can only see what's available at your home(s). Since I have 3 homes, when I search I get to see SSR, BWV, and BLT. It's a great tool. It shows only 2 of your nights were booked up.

Do you have to have points available to do that? And it is just through the reservation request form? I tried but cant figure it out. maybe that is because all my points are tied up in reservations.

I don't think the points matter because I don't get my 2012 until April and banked my 2011.

Once you log in, on the right side of the screen there is a list. Choose "vacation center". This is the new screen that has all of the new functions on it. On the left side you'll see some choices, but choose "reserve a dvc resort with points" and it will let you do a search of resorts and dates. All resorts if you are within 7 months of your dates. Outside of 7 months, it will only show you your home resort(s). This is a great new tool that many of us have been using to search availability on. I've not booked yet, but next week is the 11 month window for my January 2013 trip, so I'll get to try the booking online for the first time.

Thanks for spelling it out for me! I was able to follow your directions and figure it out...very cool tool.
