We just finalised our plans for Disneyland the last week of June and I am having a hard time finding any reviews on the Park Place Inn so I would love to read some - any posters?

Also what can u all who have stayed there say about the fees upon check out - no car so no parking- trip advisor talks about a 30 room fee??? If we booked thru Disney are we stil subject to that fee too?? And is luggage storage in a secured place if we arrive at 9am and can't check in until 3pm it will be when we get back from the park 10-12am when we pick up our lugggage. Also the 'mini mart' on site do they have multi-pack waters/soda? Thanks for any information ya'll! :worship:

My wife and I stayed there last week. We were there from Feb 23rd to the 28th. The room, while not lavish - was exactly what we would expect from a Best Western property. The linens were clean and in good condition. The bed was comfortable and triple-sheeted with a duvet and a generous number of pillows. The carpet did not leave our socks blackened from the fireworks residue known to blow over the hotel areas near the resort. All of the usual amenities were present - shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, one facial soap bar, one body soap bar, one plastic laundry bag and of course the cups, coffee/teabags and ice holder with bags. Our housekeeping while there was impeccable. The hand towels were always folded into a fan/shell shape, and the facial tissue was also similarly presented.

They have a microwave oven and a refrigerator in the room. Hint: don't forget to turn the fridge ON, otherwise your stuff will not get cold! All rooms are now non-smoking. We were in room 241, which was all the way at the end and on the second floor. We did not notice any freeway noise, but once or twice some rambunctious neighbors upstairs could be heard (thump, thump, thump as someone ran across the floor).

Breakfast at Captain Kidds across the drive and then upstairs was quite adequate. Their offerings include a variety of muffins, pre-toasted bagels, bread and something else (forgot what it was, maybe wheat or white selection?), as well as some danish/cinnamon rolls. They have fresh fruit (apples/oranges/bananas), low-fat yoghurt (strawberry only) and cereals. Their selection of cereals seemed to be the usual - fruit loops, raisin bran, corn flakes and instant plain oatmeal. They offered 1% and skim milk to top them with. They also have "bisquits" (their spelling, I always called them biscuits) and gravy, neither of which were very warm, but they will microwave them (or warm your "bisquit" in an oven) for you if you ask. Most of the time the coffee they had was really pretty good. I like a strong, dark roasted brew - and that is what they have in the large carafe with the spout at the bottom. The pump-top carafes sometimes seemed to be weaker. They used a good dark-roasted arabica bean too, not that nasty medium roast robusto so many other places opt for. You can easily fill up on enough food to last you until a lunch in the park is due. Oh yeah, a standard load of condiments including, margarine, jellies, cream cheese, sugar, sugar substitute, etc.

I booked directly through the hotel for our stay. Trying to book online at the Best Western website, or their own site yielded room rates of about $119 a night. I called and spoke directly with their staff and finagled a Best Western Rewards member rate of $89.10 a night for a King room. I am looking at our bill now, and the breakdown is as follows:
Room Revenue - $89.10
Room Tax - $13.37
ATID Fee - $ 1.78
Total charge - $521.25 (for five nights). There is also a block explaining taxes, where it states ATID fee of $8.90 and Room Tax of $66.85 was assessed, and total taxes paid was $75.75.

Overall, we were quite pleased with our choice of lodging. The fact that it is so close to the park(s) is a big, big bonus. Remember, you'll have a shorter walk than someone staying at the Disneyland Hotel or the Paradise Pier Hotel, both Disney Properties.

Hope that this helps. I did take some pictures of the room in case you're interested.

Oh! I forgot to add more more benefit - the big bus from Gray Lines Disneyland Resort Express stops right at their front door! The absolute best way to get from SNA to your lodging - and back, in my ever so humble opinion!

That's an awesome amount of detail DryCreek, thanks! :goodvibes We're also considering staying at BWPPI and the Desert Inn. Both are comparable in price, amenities and location. Curious to hear feedback!

BWPPI is our first choice. Staying there again later this week. Nice size room. Not the Ritz, but clean. Can't get any closer to gate even staying on site.

DryCreek is spot on with his review. We were there the same time and really liked it. We would definitely stay there again. The only minor deal was no in-room safe.

Another bit of info -since we had a later flight I asked for a late check out and they did extend it from 11:00 to noon. I also got the impression that I could have extended even longer if I had asked for it.

We've stayed there twice now and will stay there again this Christmas. Rooms and amenities are exactly as described by DryCreek, and the location is fantastic. I've never tried calling to get a better rate (so I will try that this time), but I think it is an excellent value.

The wife refreshed my memory this morning. Powdered cake and chocolate covered cake donuts. That is what I was forgetting.

And...

Coming from "Central America" (inside joke about being in the Central Time Zone) we arrived at the property about 10 a.m. They were more than happy to check us in and store all of our luggage. They will tag it with your name and store it right behind their main desk there (right in their way). They offered to call when the room was ready too, but I don't remember getting a call from them. We came back at around 3 and picked up our luggage and room keycards then.

DryCreek, I would be interested to see your BWPPI room pictures.

I'm not exactly sure how to post them here, so I'll try the obvious way first.

Showing entry into the room. I wish that I could say the ice-cold Blue Moon was complimentary and waiting for us - but that would be a lie. We bought it at the little convenience store next door. Mmmm-Mmmm good!

Refrigerator, microwave and the not-so-flat screen TV. I didn't come to watch TV anyway.

Bathroom. Notice the nicely fanned/folded mat on the edge of the tub.

I resized the pictures using a standard size (640X480) and their native size was 2816X2112, so they may seem a little off-balance.

And now to click the "Submit Reply" button and see if my limited internet skills are working tonight......

The date you see here is not the date you are looking for.....

There, did the force work for you? The wife pointed out that the datestamp on all of our pictures is..... wrong. Oh well, who looks at those things when you are on vacation? She insists that we no longer bring the tiny little point & shoot on vacation because of errors like this. I just hate to lug around a $1,000 DSLR in the rain and on rides...

There is a sofa to the right of where I was standing to take the first picture, and a desk/work area just to the left (oh, it is holding up the beer, never mind).

Uh Oh - looks like I broke the internet for you guys. My last post elicited this response from the server:

Can you forgive me? Searchlight thingies and all?

They had hard boiled eggs when I was there in 2007.

I'm going to stay at BWPPI again in September. I got a similar rate booking my trip using the advance booking rate. Four nights = $408.10

Last time I had a room at the front of the building. Very close to everything. Lots of little shops around. I was able to find Lactaid milk for my niece at one.

They still have them - they're in the refrigerator, above the yoghurt.
Getting old hurts, the brain seizes up and then you forget everything, even setting the date on your camera. I guess we'll just have to go back and re-take all of those photos?

Wish we could afford to stay at the Disneyland Hotel.

We stayed at the DLH the first time we went because we got a deal, but I'd choose the BWPPI for the location, IMHO. Now what I really want is an outrageously good deal for the GCH!

We've stayed twice at the Best Western Anaheim Inn on Harbor, which has the same owners (they own four altogether) -- Stovall's. Look for them on Facebook; the have specials on there sometimes. They just finished up a contest where the prize was a two-night stay plus 3 one-day park hoppers!

We've enjoyed the Anaheim Inn, so we imagine the PPI is even better. It's just not worth the extra $20-$30 a night for us to stay a half a block closer, or whatever it is. (They also own two on Katella.)

Here is the review I posted on trip advisor:

We stayed at the Park Place Inn for one night in January 14. We have previously stayed here on other trips to Disneyland. We were surprised to find a king room her for $89 on a Saturday night (AAA rate), so it was no question whether or not we would pick this hotel for that night.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were quickly checked in and given our parking pass. Parking is $8/night, but this is becoming pretty standard for hotels around Disneyland. Our room wasn't ready yet since we checking in before 2:00, so we parked the car and headed over to Disneyland for a bit. You can't beat the location of this property! We came back just after 3:00 and were given room 163, which is on the north side of the property.
The accommodations were pretty standard for the Best Westerns in the area, but the couch in the king room was nice for an extra place to sit. The room was very clean, but a bit noisy. We could easily hear people walking by our room outside and the kid galloping across the room above us. I believe running the air/heat would have reduced this noise, but with the mild weather that day, we never turned on the air. The bed was pretty comfortable, and I had plenty of hot water for my shower in the morning. Our only complaint is that my husband had a slight allergic reaction to the hand/body soap provided. His hands became swollen after using it. Thank goodness he realized this before using it in the shower! He suggested that the hotel provides another option for hand soap that doesn't have all the "smelly stuff" in it. Just something basic.

Breakfast in the morning was average, but filling enough for us. We wished they had the waffle makers with a batter dispenser like we have seen at other Best Westerns, but the choices of cereals, fruits, pastries, and biscuits and gravy were sufficient. Hubby said the coffee was nice and strong!

I would not hesitate to stay here again, but next time I would request a room further back in the hotel and on a higher floor to hopefully reduce the noise. We also realized that we prefer the south side of the property as you are given more of a view.

Any updates on the breakfast at BWPPI? I heard they were testing out some new breakfast offerings and it would be finalized this month.

We stayed their 2x and loved it both times. Location is awesome! First time we stayed in the first room on the first floor, second time last room on the first floor. We preferred the first room better, and don't ask me how, but we found it way more quieter?? I'd totally stay there again in a heartbeat. Room is just average, but location is what makes it awesome!!

Have fun!!

Does anyone know if you can collect air miles at this location? Should I call to check? Staying here in Oct & Dec.
