My wife and I stayed there last week. We were there from Feb 23rd to the 28th. The room, while not lavish - was exactly what we would expect from a Best Western property. The linens were clean and in good condition. The bed was comfortable and triple-sheeted with a duvet and a generous number of pillows. The carpet did not leave our socks blackened from the fireworks residue known to blow over the hotel areas near the resort. All of the usual amenities were present - shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, one facial soap bar, one body soap bar, one plastic laundry bag and of course the cups, coffee/teabags and ice holder with bags. Our housekeeping while there was impeccable. The hand towels were always folded into a fan/shell shape, and the facial tissue was also similarly presented.
They have a microwave oven and a refrigerator in the room. Hint: don't forget to turn the fridge ON, otherwise your stuff will not get cold! All rooms are now non-smoking. We were in room 241, which was all the way at the end and on the second floor. We did not notice any freeway noise, but once or twice some rambunctious neighbors upstairs could be heard (thump, thump, thump as someone ran across the floor).
Breakfast at Captain Kidds across the drive and then upstairs was quite adequate. Their offerings include a variety of muffins, pre-toasted bagels, bread and something else (forgot what it was, maybe wheat or white selection?), as well as some danish/cinnamon rolls. They have fresh fruit (apples/oranges/bananas), low-fat yoghurt (strawberry only) and cereals. Their selection of cereals seemed to be the usual - fruit loops, raisin bran, corn flakes and instant plain oatmeal. They offered 1% and skim milk to top them with. They also have "bisquits" (their spelling, I always called them biscuits) and gravy, neither of which were very warm, but they will microwave them (or warm your "bisquit" in an oven) for you if you ask. Most of the time the coffee they had was really pretty good. I like a strong, dark roasted brew - and that is what they have in the large carafe with the spout at the bottom. The pump-top carafes sometimes seemed to be weaker. They used a good dark-roasted arabica bean too, not that nasty medium roast robusto so many other places opt for. You can easily fill up on enough food to last you until a lunch in the park is due. Oh yeah, a standard load of condiments including, margarine, jellies, cream cheese, sugar, sugar substitute, etc.
I booked directly through the hotel for our stay. Trying to book online at the Best Western website, or their own site yielded room rates of about $119 a night. I called and spoke directly with their staff and finagled a Best Western Rewards member rate of $89.10 a night for a King room. I am looking at our bill now, and the breakdown is as follows:
Room Revenue - $89.10
Room Tax - $13.37
ATID Fee - $ 1.78
Total charge - $521.25 (for five nights). There is also a block explaining taxes, where it states ATID fee of $8.90 and Room Tax of $66.85 was assessed, and total taxes paid was $75.75.
Overall, we were quite pleased with our choice of lodging. The fact that it is so close to the park(s) is a big, big bonus. Remember, you'll have a shorter walk than someone staying at the
Disneyland Hotel or the Paradise Pier Hotel, both Disney Properties.
Hope that this helps. I did take some pictures of the room in case you're interested.
Oh! I forgot to add more more benefit - the big bus from Gray Lines Disneyland Resort Express stops right at their front door! The absolute best way to get from SNA to your lodging - and back, in my ever so humble opinion!
