BWI vs. YC in January

Hello!!
I currently have a standard view booked at BWI for 2 nights this coming January. The first 5 nights of our trip will be in a DVC studio at the Poly. We weren't able to secure more than 5 nights, so we decided to do our first split stay!
As soon as the Visa discount came out I booked the BWI. We have our heart set on an Epcot area resort since we would love to spend the last couple of nights being able to leisurely walk to Epcot at night and enjoy World Showcase.
Fast forward to today, curiosity got the best of me and I went on to the Disney website to see what else was available (I had also read a few less than stellar reviews of BWI and got a little nervous)
Yacht club is listed at just about the same price... for a garden view.
one of our favorite restaurants on property is Yachtsman and we've always loved walking around the resort before/after our reservations.
SB is also a draw, but it will be January.... so not sure how much we will really be able to enjoy it.

Just looking for some input!
:thanks:

YC is my favorite resort on site and I've stayed at them all except a few values, POFQ, WL and SSR. If the price were the same, I'd go YC without question. If the price were anything less than $100 total, I'd go YC. If the price were over $100 total, I'd go with which ever one was less. Both have their advantages, I've only stayed at BWV in a studio so don't know what the resort rooms are like. I've stayed there twice, I don't own DVC but both times it was less to do a Disney DVC room than to do a resort room anywhere else. BW is my least favorite of the Disney Epcot resorts but there really isn't a reason except I love YC. I haven't used the main pool in years so that never factors in my decision.

Neither of those views is that great (I suppose garden is to be preferred because standard could mean parking lot) so all things being equal pricewise I'd go with the Yacht Club. We had a garden view at the Beach Club once and it was just "in your face" trees so that's what I'm basing it on.

I'm definitely not expecting the garden view to be anything spectacular, but i'd rather book that than risk looking over a parking lot :confused3
I'm also not a huge fan of the BWI room theming, so thats playing to my choice a little bit.

Not trying to sound rude, just my personal opinion, but if I only had 2 nights booked in a resort, I don't think I would really worry about the view.

BWI is actually our current favorite resort. We used to love YC, but have been unable to get reservations there for our last several stays. We don't want to try BC, because we want a full balcony.

BWI has become our favorite resort because they only have two, non-club level, categories, either Boardwalk view or standard view. We have stayed at BWI about 5 times, only once did we pay for the boardwalk view. They seem to have an enormous amout of standard view rooms which allows us to save money over the boardwalk view. We have, so far been fortunate to get great views, avoiding a parking lot view. Our last stay was a standard view of the inner courtyard, top floor, and the eiffel tower in Epcot was directly ahead of us allowing spectacular view of the fire works every night. Boardwalk has recently renovated rooms and from what I have read, YC rooms still are yet to be renovated.

We also love the Yachtsman and even the Captain's Grille, but don't find it an inconvience to simply walk over there if we want to eat there.

We don't use the pools, so that is not a consideration for us.

Having said all that, I guess if I could get a garden view at YC for the same price, I would probably take it.

I hear ya. Although a parking lot view might actually have been more interesting than that "garden" view of in your face trees we had at the Beach Club once. We really love both resorts (we're doing a split stay next month). Although we're fans of the Crew's Cup and Martha's Vineyard lounges at the Yacht and Beach Clubs, the Belle Vue at the Boardwalk Inn holds such special memories for my partner and me. We also have an anniversary dinner planned at Yachtsman next month to be followed by an evening at Jellyrolls.
We are definitely Epcot Resorts guys!

Not rude at all! I appreciate your input :goodvibes
We usually wouldn't care too much about the view, but since its only 2 days and at the end of our stay, were want to use the days as "wind-down" days. Meaning we'll probably hang around the room in the mornings/afternoon and really utilize the proximity to Epcot at night. And i'd really love to sit out on the balcony and not look over something nicer than a parking lot.
And while i'll most likely not use the pool at all, my SO will go in no matter the temp outside! He's always admired it when we visited for dinner and he really likes the possibility of trying out the "best pool on WDW property".

Wow tough choice. I like both BWI and YC. I would say that BWI is a slightly shorter walk to the International Gateway. Also, the new Abracadabar (sorry if the spelling is a bit wonky) is amazing so if you haven't been there that is a must regardless of which resort you choose. Personally, I like the theme of YC slightly better but both have their advantages.

Yacht club is our all-time fav. That being said its due a room refurb (nothing terrible - just tired rooms) as compared to the all-new beach club rooms. We like yacht club over beach club for the balconies and first bus stop pick up.

I would go with your gut. If you enjoy walking around BC/YC at night and love Yachtsman, YC may be the way to go. BWI is our favorite resort and we love the theming, but to each his own!!
