BWI vs BC

I think we must be one of the only families that isn’t crazy about SAB

Nah there are a lot of people that share your sentiment. They are all crazy though ;) But preference is preference.

I think both resorts are very nice and conveniently located. You just have to browse the amenities and pick which set better suits your desires. For us it's BC every time, but that's because we spend half the day at the pool and really enjoy SAB (and beaches and cream!). That said, there's nothing wrong with the boardwalk, and we regularly walk over there for dinner or whatever else is going on.

I grew up going to BC as a kid, but since I’ve been an adult, I prefer the BW for the location. I like that you can walk to both Epcot and DHS. It’s about 10 minutes to Epcot and 15 minutes to DHS. I also like that you don’t have to share any buses with other resorts (note we usually go over thanksgiving and Christmas, but BW does have its own dedicated bus to MK and AK).

I'm now wondering if we had an abnormal experience when we stayed at BW in July. All of these posts that BW has dedicated bus service. We found the buses to MK had dedicated service, but to AK (and DS) we shared with Swan and Dolphin.

I think they started the dedicated bus service in October of 2015, but the last two trips over thanksgiving and Christmas yielded dedicated buses. I have had others question the dedicated buses at BW, so makes me wonder if it seasonal but I would have thought July would have been a peak time.

We were just at Boardwalk Oct 15-22 and we shared buses with swan/dolphin for AK. So not just july :). Dedicated for MK. We didn't go to DS.

That changes all the time depending on the transportation department's logistics. I certainly wouldn't choose a resort based on an an extra bus stop here and there. There are plenty of other annoying things at Disney to take the place of an extra bus stop if you do manage to avoid them.

I know there are probably countless similar threads already, but wanted to get some recent input for our trip next summer. We visit annually and for the past 4 years have stayed at (and loved!) Beach Club. We've heard fabulous reviews from multiple friends who love Boardwalk, but none who can compare the two head-to-head. We're a family of 4 with two young kids (ages 8 and 4), so room size isn't an issue and there isn't much of a price differential for our dates... and we're already sold on the Epcot location. Just want to try something new but don't want to regret it, knowing how much we love BC. Is BWI worth the switch next year?

We're also a BC-loving family. We did take the plunge and stay at BWI a few times and it was fine for us - I don't think you'll have regrets for trying it. I agree it's nice to switch things up and try different resorts. The good thing about staying at BWI is that you can always walk over to BC for Beaches & Cream and other things you love (except SAB of course).

Our family loves the Boardwalk Inn. That resort met more of our vacation needs at Disney. When planning between two resorts write down pros and cons to both. I would say however that Boardwalk has more of an adult vibe to it. Beach club is definitely got the wow factor for kids.
